'08 VSC off mod for an '07

I mentioned this in another thread but thought this was of enough interest to some people that it deserved it's own thread.

I was wondering if there is a mod to turn off VSC on pre '08 4R's. Now that it is available on the '08's, I was wondering if there is a dealer or aftermarket mod that would enable someone to disable VSC when engaged. Not sure how much something like this would cost or if it's even possible, but I'll probably call a few dealers around town to see if it can be done.

Anyone know if this can be done???

Temporarily canceling VSC

There are a variety of service/repair tests that would seem to require disabling the VSC. It was possible in earlier 4th generation 4Runners and I suspect it still is, though the procedure is likely a little different. Forgive me for quoting from another post of my own:
--------------
There is a procedure in the service/repair manuals for canceling VSC at start-up, apparently when you're going to test brakes and other things that VSC would interfere with. It likely works with 2003-2004 models (and maybe 2005) before the changed the OBDII to CAN bus protocol. I'm not sure if there is a similar procedure, perhaps using different pins, that applies to newer 4Runners.

As far as I can tell, it involves shorting one of the OBDII pins to the chassis ground pin when starting up, and lasts until the vehicle is shut down and restarted.
--------------

I have service manuals for only the 2003 model, but perhaps someone with newer ones could look at them and weigh in on this.

I'm not going to suggest defeating an important safety feature, and I wouldn't want to mess something else up with a half-assed mod. But it would be nice to know what's possible.
