1/2" Body Lift - Where to find?

I'm considering installing a 1/2" body lift, but I'm having a hard time finding any info on them or where to even buy a kit. With only a 1/2" kit, is new hardware even necessary or are there enough threads on the stock body mount bolts to accommodate an extra 1/2"? What about radiator fan shroud, will a half inch cause interference?

If someone can chime in and point me towards a kit for sale that would be great. Thanks!

What's your goal? That sounds like a ton of work for minimal return. Are you running stock tires? Go to 265/75 and there's your lift.

Only $45. Pretty sure you don't even need extended hardware.
I just ordered from him Friday- 8/10. Not too good with communication- I ordered Friday, didn't hear anything aside from an order confirmation. Sent an email Tuesday asking for a status update. He said material is backordered, and he expects to be processing orders "middle of next week"(this week).
He's got a good reputation, but it would have been cool if he had notified me that his material was out of stock before I hit him up for an update.

I have 295/75R16 tires (they measure 33.4"), I've cut the pinchweld back to the firewall and I rub only a little. I don't want to do a 1" BL because I want to keep my COG as low as possible and I've come across other builds with only a 1/2" BL and I think that could be the best option. I just don't know where to find a kit.

cahaight A spacer lift and a body lift are different. A spacer is used to add more pre-load to a spring which moves the suspension downward, lifting the resting ride height. A body lift raises the body away from frame. Since the suspension is attached directly to the frame, adding a body lift can help with clearing larger tires, a spacer lift cannot.

Installing a body lift should take 1-2 hours, a spacer lift would probably be ~3 hours or so.

Keep in mind that most manufacturers build their bumpers in whole increments of 0, 1", and 2" for body lifts. If you want to get bumpers in the future, you'll have to do a bit of modifying to get them to fit without a 1/2" (or more) gap.

If you are going to do the body lift at all, just do the 1". The extra 1/2" is not going to make any difference on center of gravity unless you are running no sway bars - then it can be sketchy no matter what. Even with a 1" BL, and the pinchweld work, the fronts will still rub when the suspension is cycled with not a whole lot of steering input when off road. On road is not a problem except for full steering lock - then my Duratrac side lugs rub the frame.

The 4crawler site is very overcomplicated but he gives away a lot of good info. I ended up making my own. You will absolutely need all new bolts except for 2 where you can reuse the originals where the shortest ones went. Get them at McMaster Carr when you buy a one-foot length of 2-1/2" diameter UHMW to saw the pucks from. You will also need the steering rag joint spacer. Find a buddy with a milling machine - it's not a very difficult piece to make, but not something you will want to hack out with a dremel and drill press. The fan shroud issue is easy to solve - the bottom half is removable. Mine has been gone for years. I also made my own front bumper relocation plates.

My runner isn't a regular weekend off road machine, but does see some year round. I've gotten by with a 1" BL, 33's and '99 highlander springs for several years now. Driving technical stuff with a lot of suspension articulation requires approaches with wheels mostly straight to avoid significant tire contact. If no rub is the goal, you will need a real suspension lift, diff drop, etc. and you won't need a BL at all.

If the problem trying to be solved is rubbing from larger tires, a BL will NOT solve that problem!!! ask me how I know..... :cowboy:

I have a 1" BL from Fat Pats. Two of the bolts he sent were wrong so I just went to the local hardware store for the correct length ($8). I was in the middle of the job & didnt want to wait. It's easy to do except for the rag joint extension. My old nuts & bolts were rusty & it took a few extensions, swivels & 3/8" impact to take apart. Luckily I was doing it in my buddies shop. Now I have the tools to do it myself. I dont think a 1/2" is worth the trouble, go 1". At 2" is where you have to worry about the rad or bringing anything else up higher. I have 33's with no rubbing whatso ever, & I didnt have to pound or cut any metal.
