I'm considering the use of a 110V adapter that fits in my cigarette lighter plug. Has anyone had any experience with this? I would use it for a cell phone charger and possibly (in an emergency) for a small electric blanket if I get stranded in a snow storm. Is it safe? I have a 2005 4-Runner. Thanks.

thay outlet is either 5 or 10 amp, an electric blanket may be higher than that. As a rule of thumb, just check the amperage on you outlet fuse, and check the amperage of the device you want to plug in, if it is below the 12v outlet you should be just fine.

I've never had much luck with inverters. Noisy fans and if voltage drops below 12 most of them stop working. Often the work-around is more difficult and problematic than the obvious.

I have been looking on sites for a good electric blanket and this one below doesn't have good reviews. With cold weather coming, would need a better one than this. I drive a big rig, so
12v. isn't a problem or worried about running out of electrical power, have 4 batteries.
