12v ports not working - 2018 TRD Off Road

Went on a little road trip today to a military aviation museum and noticed the 12v port didn't work up front nor the two in the back seat for the kids. I've searched and not finding anything for 5th gens. Gonna check fuses but any other ideas? Have an appointment at dealer next week but hoping to resolve it on my own. I pulled the dash console and everything is plugged in. Thoughts???

Did you confirm it’s the ports by trying a different cable and/or device? Does the 12v plug have fuse that may be blown?

Starting with the most basic, I assume:

The vehicle was running (outlets only work when running.)
You turned on the main switch up by the steering wheel.

If yes to both of these, it's possible the protection circuit was activated. Below is the verbatim from them manual. It also has the process for resetting this circuit.

The protection circuit may be activated to cut the power supply if any of the following conditions apply:
●The engine is started with the power outlet main switch on.
●Use of electrical appliances exceeding the maximum capacity is attempted.
A sound may be heard when the protection circuit is activated. This is nor- mal and does not indicate a malfunction.
●Electrical appliances, which consume power exceeding 100 W, have been used continuously for a long time period.
●The total power usage by all electrical features (headlights, air conditioning, etc.) has exceeded the total vehicle maximum for an extended period of time.

You most likely have a bad power cord or dropped something into the outlet.

I have a 2018 TRD Off Road and it lost power to the outlet ports. I traced it back to a blown fuse under the driver side dash box. I only had the vehicle for 2 days. Hope this is not the start of an electrical gremlin. I was using it to charge my phone versus the built in usb port because I find that the usb port charges slower.

So a couple things. First off why didn’t you check the fuses before rushing to ask on here. Sorry for sounding like an a$$ but you shouldn’t ask til after you check fuses.

The other issue is what blew the fuse to begin with? The only time I’ve ever blown a fuse was a small metal object fell in the plug, shorted it, and blew. Ex wife’s 4Runner so lots of small chick stuff in console.

It was the fuse. I must have a bad cord. Picked up a new pack of 15A and voila! Thanks everyone! :cheers:

Thanks! Thanks for the welcome but I've been a lurking member since 2006. Used to be heavy into forums but got burned as a sponsor on another and greatly reduced my time spent on forums. However, T4R.org has ALWAYS been a great resource. My wife wouldn't let me mod her 2006. I had an '08 Taco that I just traded in for my 2018 Off Road.

As far as GP. I live at the Point as well, but on the other side of 17. Do you know Chris Leigh? His parents were our neighbors. Been here going on 16 years. We also kayak and paddle board out on the York. Small world! Thanks again!

Most built in USB ports are .5amp of charge power. Some phones/tablets can charge at 1.5amps. Big difference in power output.
