Sorry for the long winded post in advance-
Is anyone on here using the 12Volt Guy stand-alone elocker harness these days? It used to be pretty popular but haven’t seen many posts about it lately.
I have the harness and did the install last night in the wee hours. Obviously a very easy install, given it’s standalone and basically plug and play.
My truck is an SR5 and still has the stock unlocked axle in the back. I have an elocker axle ready to go in. I just wanted to go ahead and “pre-wire” as much as possible so the axle swap is plug and play. I’m leaving the 2 plugs in the interior and will drop them through the fuel tank opening in the floor when the time comes to get the elocker axle in.
However, I had a couple of questions for guys who run this harness:
- Where did you guys end up grounding the two ground wires- the black and brown ones. Under the dash somewhere? I’m currently grounding these two wires through one screw near the kick panel, but wondered if there’s a more optimal place. Seems like a lot of paint etc in there.
- What wire did you tap into to operate the switch LED lights? I tapped into the green w/silver stripe coming off of the ignition switch.
That said..
Not getting any illumination, even with lights on. I’m wondering if the switch will not get any illumination at all if it’s not actually plugged into an elocker position switch and elocker motor.
Basically the situation is that everything up front is hooked up- from battery, through an in-line fuse, to switch, grounded- the whole 9 yards..
Then the harness runs back and doesn’t plug into anything (yet)
Is this why my switch isn’t illuminating with the headlights on?
