15 inch rims on a 3rd gen ??

15 inch rims on a 3rd gen ?? that came with factory 16

so me and my mechanic were workin on my truck, he tells me he has some 33/12.5/15s that would look good. so we put them up, wont fit. he is thinking we can grid the calipers a lil and get the rims machined out a lil to allow the clearance needed. just wondering what you guys think about that and if anyone has ever done sumthing like that or has 15 inch rims on a 3rd gen...

ok so maybe i should specify that mine came facroty with 16s

i'm 99.9% sure we have the exact same breaking system and downsizing would be no issue at all

if you came with 16's from the factory, 15's wont clear the calipers due to the bigger brake package. i personally wouldn't grind my calipers down in order to fit a smaller rim. but that's just me

we tryed to put these 15x10 inch rims on my 96 limited and the calipers would not clear the inside of the rim so this is my problem

You even have to grind the caliper down to fit some 16s... I wouldn't machine material off the wheel though. It could spell trouble.

3rd gens that came with 16" rims usually also had the larger brakes and rotors, so I do not belive that 15" wheels will fit!

alright so maybe i'll just look into ordering some rims online, perhaps some plain black steel wheels 16x8 or 16x10, anyone have any suggestions? im looking to fit a bigger tire and have them stick out the sides a lil more to look good with the factory fender flares and 3 inch ome lift i had installed

Maybe a set of wheel spacers will help you clear the caliper's?

Here's my bone stock 2000 base model 4Runner with 15" steel wheels. Tires are slightly larger than stock, 235/75-15 Michelin Defender LTXs.

I'm guessing yours came with 16''s? If so, you might have issues with a 15" clearing the front brakes.

I'll agree. First, you need to make sure the wheels fit the larger 16" wheel brakes... If they do, then you can fit any tire similar to 16" fitments. Whatever you do, don't downgrade to the 15" wheel brakes - especially with 33" tires!

15"rims on 16" wheel 2005 Toyota 4Runner?

So I did the thing which turned out to be very silly and cost me my caliper. I was given some nice Geolanders on 15" rims from a fully tricked-out 98 Hylux. Happily, I proceeded to install them on my 2005 4Runner, and they fit nicely on the back, looking sharp. They seemed to be just what the doctor ordered for my backwoods location. Proceeding to the front, there were clearance issues with the 16" wheel caliper setup. So grinder in hand, about to shave a tiny bit off the caliper, I thought: Let me try some 2"wheel spacers first. They came but alas, there was still a bit of contact....long story short, I ground and hit the fluid line, which is surprisingly close to the top surface of the caliper. Now I am flapping, of course, really hoping to find a solution. Is there a lower-profile aftermarket caliper anyone heard of? Or can I make a 15"rotor and caliper work on my front end? Not sure if the mounting holes will line up on my 16" front assembly. Any ideas and tips I would truly appreciate...
