I tend to post on a watch forum where new members can cost in the regular forums right away, but can't post in the for sale section until they've had 100 posts.
New members that post "junk" - one line posts that add nothing to the conversation - just to get to the 100 posts are often banned and the regular members will beat up on them fairly quickly. If they happen to fly under the radar of the mods, the other members will make sure that they'll never sell anything.
The same thing should be in place here. Speedposters should be warned and banned.
Why? Because a waiting period makes sense. That gives you time to read and get used to the peculiarities of this forum.
Me? I'll just cool my heels and post in threads where I think I can contribute. By that time, most of my questions will hopefully have been answered.

I used to be a member when I had a 2011 Limited years ago. Now I don't think my username exists so i'm a newbie ahaha. Now I have a 2013 trail. I got back into the 4WD scene. Picked up Bilstein coilovers for the front, shocks for the rear and springs 3"lift. I also picked up procomp 7089 wheels and some toyo mud terrains.

I suppose I will open an intro thread on this New Members board when hitting 16 posts. It does seem a bit odd we can reply to threads here but apparently not start new ones short of 15 posts? Even when already quarantined within the New Member thread?
Actually, since I’m here and can’t start a thread in new members, I’ll introduce myself here.
I just purchased my first new car in almost 20 years, a 2019 MGM TRD ORP, it’s my second 4Runner.
My first 4Runner was a 2WD 2002, purchased in 2009 with 106,000 miles on it. I’d lost everything after the 2008 crash and needed a cheap reliable vehicle. I’d never owned a car with more than 75k miles on it so I was just hoping that little 4Runner would last me a year while I got back on my feet.
Fast forward 10 years and 122,000 absolutely trouble free miles and I was sure I’d never own anything but another 4Runner. What an incredible vehicle.
Yes it’s not the fastest, most feature laden or most modern, but it’s incredibly good at being what it’s supposed to be, a 4Runner. Looking forward to 200k more happy, trouble free miles!

A 15 post rule serves its purpose and any potential good long term member will be able to make 15 posts easily. On my Countermeasures forum we have a welcome thread requirement and a vary deep staff to vet new members and posts so we don't have the 15 post requirement. But that's not always possible.
