15" wheels on 4th gen??

I know many may not like the smaller rims, but I really like the way 15" wheels look with bigger tires. I have the sport edition with the big brakes so they would definitely need to stick out to clear the calipers. My question is, what offset or backspacing would push them out? I already need a higher offset to push the tires out, and I want the tires to be just out side of the fenders. Any ideas?

Hmmmm.. Not sure 15's could ever clear the calipers. Have you measured the full diameter of the caliper/disk assembly?

I WISH the 4th gen could use 15" wheels. Have you seen how much less 15" tires cost than 16" or 17"? It's crazy!

But I think the 15's won't clear the calipers without some pretty massive spacers, and if you put spacers on, think about how much more force you're putting onto the spindlhub. Even for a vehicle that never leaves the pavement I would think that could cause some serious handling problems as well as premature wear of front end components and the possibility of a catastrophic failure.

Anything less than 16" is not going to happen for the 4th Gen with the brakes on the truck. This is even more so for the Sport Editions as they have a larger rotor and offset caliper setup. There's not going to be a way for the inner drum of the wheel to clear. The discussion of offset is no longer relevant to the amount you can run to make it work.

I could've sworn I seen on here somewhere a guy running 15's. Don't know if he had the larger brakes though. It seems like it would only take a little offset and they wouldn't be to tight. The rims I have on now with the spacers are almost past the caliper and I'd like them to stick out another inch. No spacers, just rim backspacing /offset.

Good example are the rally cars which tend to go with a specific 15" wheel for dirt/snow rally terrain. Now with that being said, you could potentially do it but you would have to find some aftermarket rotors/calipers which would fit said 15" wheels/4runner bolt pattern...

Nvm, I went and looked under my truck. Even with spacers it's inside the rim. Bummer, would really love 15's wrapped in 35's. Would look awesome!

I remember someone here did it. If I recall correctly they had super low offset and spacers and it did clear. Can't remember his name though

I've seen a grey 03 with 15's somewhere...I thought the wheel size looked way too small for our trucks. Mine came with 16's and there was maybe enough room to stick a few sheets of paper between the wheel and the caliper.

That's what I was thinking too, I know I seen one somewhere. Wouldn't be easy I know, but would be really awesome!
