15K service in North Dallas

I have a 2005 T4R SR5 V6 w/ 14800 miles. Its time for the 15k service, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the dealerships in the area.

I have received quotes from Toyota of Plano $290, and Toyota of Richardson $351. Richardson says they will throw in a rental car.

Any suggestions, experiences would be greatly appreciated.

For comparison, my dealer here in MO does it for $199. Hope it helps.

Another comparison. Did it in my driveway for about $75 roughly. . pretty sure that included the 12 pack of beer. And most definately included ALL synthetics. . learn your truck. . surely if you ask any one of us that has done it before, we're more than happy to help you LEARN YOUR TRUCK!

Don't know if you'd have this problem with Toyota dealers or not, but Lexus dealers don't all have the same definition of "15K service" for the same car. They don't follow the book - they generally add lots of extra stuff you don't need in order to pump up the price.

In order to compare numbers "apples to apples", you might need to get a specific list of the work that would be done. Also, make sure that they'll do what the book says - no more, no less, unless you want it that way.

I do know that with my Toyota dealer, "inspect" does not mean "do any actual work". Getting the fluid actually changed or whatever certainly costs extra. The 30K service doubled in price for a Tacoma when I wanted them to actually replace some things that were due rather than just "inspect" them.

Where'd you end up going? I'm in Frisco. I typically take my vehicles to Kwik Kar or Valvoline and have the services performed there for about half what dealerships want. Some of the services I do myself.

I have had great experiences w/Matt, svc. writer, in Toyota of Richardson.

I'm new to DFW, we live in Richardson. Been in TX for a little over a year now.

Pls. do share dealer/non dealer experiences, for those in the area.

What do you do for the 15K service? I asked my dealer and they said we don't need to do anything other than regular oil change. I checked this website http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/guides.php?xv=1&xy=2006&xint_id=4&v=1&y=2006&int_id=3
and it says the same thing. I think the "inspection" parts are just waste of money.

Exactly. I'm leasing my SUV. From 0K-25K, I've done just oil/filter/rotate. At 30K I will have the dealer do oil/filter, and replace plugs and drain/refill transm. and coolant. I'll do the others (rotate, etc) at nearby Japanese auto independent shop (non-dealer).
