17" to 16" wheels on 4th gen SR5?

Hey,
I just put this question in the 4th gen section but haven't had any bites so I'd like to try my luck here. I have a chance to get some 16" steel wheels that I want for an awesome price. My car came with 17" wheels. Now, normally I would just go ahead and jump on the 16" wheels BUT when I went to buy brake pads they told me the pads were different for models that came with
16" and 17" wheels. That being said, I'm afraid for brake reasons the 16" wheels won't clear my brakes (OEM SR5 2006 brakes). Do any of you know if I can run 16" wheels? If they were in my area I'd obviously just try it on, but they're not. Thanks ahead!

SR5 models can clear 16" wheels, but not all 16" steel wheels. It's the Sport and Limited models that require a 17" wheel.

Here's one example of a SR5 model with our F5 in 16x8.

I have a set of 16" alloys from an '02 4Runner that I use for my winter tires. They fit my '03 SR5 fine, but it all depends on how the wheels you want are made. There might be a wheel design that doesn't allow as much clearance, and would be a problem. Unless someone upgraded the discs, calipers, and caliper mounting brackets to the larger size, you should have the standard setup.
