Here is the end of the diff locker breather line, this shot is a little crooked as the last bit of line is actually vertical. I guess the height is around the top of the wheel rims (?)

With the elocker, you are going to extend the tube which is usually hanging on a subframe. It’s the tube with a one way valve. So you need to buy a cheap plastic hose connector to connect the oem tube to your arb tube.

Edit: as shown in your pic

So yeah all the locker parts seem tinier and more difficult to access than the rear diff, so I decided that for now I had better just leave it alone.

I can't figure out what that connects to or how on top of the actual locker, or if one of those ARC shark bit things would screw in if I removed what was there, if I could even get to what is there. vs just pulling that hose out and finding out that way, ummm no thanks!

Yeah that is what I was thinking. But not sure what type of hose connector, a sleeve that goes around the outside of both hoses perhaps?

And thanks ! ! !

You use a tube fitting and you only pull the one way valve off. U leave the rest there. I’d take a pic for u of mine if it weren’t raining.
Search 5th gen e locker breather kit, you will see the fittings im talking about. Currently I’m on my phone so I’m not very helpful.

I think I used a Plastic T-fitting because I was lazy n connected the elocker tube with the diff tube

That's great, here is another question about the whole system, not to overthink it or anything.

1. ARB says their tubes are a skosh bigger, 8mm, so that any oil getting up in the line when off-camber driving won't clog.

2. What kind of oil is inside the locker? How important is the diameter of the tubing once you get well away from the diff or the locker itself ?

Looking forward to the pics when it stops raining ! And thanks for posting up the photo of that part from HD. Raining here too, might attack the locker issue when the weather clears up.

But I think having the differential itself vented up high may be sufficient to me to take a trip out to the desert and to cross a few streams. Well actually I think it crosses the same stream three times, one time involves driving up the stream bed let's say 50 yards. Very sandy out there and lots of normally dry washes that could have water as well.

:car:

Edit: Yeah, that's my question, does it matter if the connector reduces the internal diameter if it is placed at the end of the existing hose ? Ie. where just air would be passing.

Well this came up in the search you suggested:

Not necessary IMO

I have the ARB kit and did the read diff breather mod without issue running up to my jack compartment.
However the e-locker is different.
there is no breather to unscrew and replace.
instead there is a very skinny hose that runs up to the little one way valve breather thingy.
i took the hose off, but the fitting is too small to work with the ARB supplied hose.
Are you guys using an adapter or am i missing something here?
I didn't worry about it. once you relieve the vacuum the issue is mute. The one way valve they use isn't the failure point and both of those valves go into the same airspace in the dif, they needed two because the valves limit flow and there is added volume and heat from a locking dif mechanism. There is no seal between them. One free flow path should be just fine. If anything I may remove that valve and plug the hole with a cap.

Another point I am a little confused on.

Are the original caps/valves on both the differential and the elocker one-way valves, or is the elocker cap a breather?

Just wondering.

Thanks !

Toyota has made both kinds: the one-way, and the two-way. They are both Toyota parts.
The one way is threaded and screws into the diff.
The two way has a simple hose barb, and is intended to be placed at the end of a hose.
I don't have the part number for the two-way one in front of me, but right now I've got both types in my spare parts box.
The one that came on my '97 3rd gen, as well as the ones that came on my 4WD '91 truck, and two Land Cruiser FJ 60's, were the one way type.
Additionally, the one way is all metal(except for the rubber flap inside), while the two-way has a plastic body with a metal cap.

I got underneath there and put onto the locker breather a piece of gorilla tape and 3 or 4 pieces of electric tape to close it up. I feel pretty comfortable with that for a quick trip to the desert, assuming I will have to make a few stream fording.
