wondering kind of someones else opinion on this deal? if it is a deal that is...there all going for similar around this price in my area...just 185k miles is worrying me a little bit...never had anything toyota above 200 before nether has any of my friends...thanks for any input

While Toyotas have a reputation of running forever, you are rolling the dice with that kind of mileage on anything. It may have been very well kept and maintained and might run for another 100K. Or, someone may have just used it as a means of transportation and maintained it only when something went wrong and it could be a ticking time bomb.

I would suggest having it taken to a local Toyota dealership and have them put it through the wringer with tests and see how it tests out.

Just an FYI on that dealer, I looked at a few cars from there and spoke with them a few times and actually drove by there a while back when I was down that way. It's a very nice place and seems very legit. Anyway, just my $.02
 
needs new headlights (those are getting yellowed). Everything else seems to be in good shape, but yes, the mileage is a little high. According to bluebook, a dealer price would be: $11700 (but in excellent condition, which for this runner is difficult to determine). Good condition (bluebook, private sale) is $8800. Did you see "there's an accident issue"?? Ask what this is about. Could be something serious or something forgettable.

Anyway, you should be able to bargain with the salesperson. If not, walk away. If you are going to lightly use her, then it doesn't seem too bad. If you want this as a DD, then I would be concerned (about the mileage and accident, depending on what it is). ....... just my opinion.
 
i asked about accident..."im not really to sure, i think it is something about a tire had a blow out and messed up the driver side door but everything has been fixed since then " quote unqoute the man on the phone....this will be my DD so i am a little nervous but idk...he told me i could take it out and let any mechanic look at it if it would make me feel better....again this is all over the phone so i know i will never get solid answers unless i am with them in person...if everything checks out once i see it and they take 10 cash id probably take it
 
Looking again, it's a one owner and the ebay score thing is at 91, which is REALLY high and almost unheard of for a vehicle that age.

On the surface it looks pretty impressive. I would venture to guess that whoever had it took REALLY good care of it, sure looks like it anyway.

I'd offer 9 cash and I bet they would jump all over it. They have to know that the buyer pool for a vehicle with that many miles has to be pretty shallow.

Offer 9 and you'll pay for a full check out at the local Toyota dealer.
 
Based on what I've seen for sale around here, I'd do $9K at most given the accident and mileage. I bought my 03 two years ago for $11K from a dealer and it had 120K miles. That may be average for your area, but high around here for a v6 with 185k miles.

It looks great though and being one owner is a plus. If maintained properly, the mileage isn't a huge concern, so just be sure to have a mechanic thoroughly check it out prior to purchase.
 
The thing with buying a car with this many miles is are you going to have buyers remorse after you buy it. Also, if you wait a few more months and maybe save another $3K-$4K you could find one with 100K miles. Another thing to ask yourself is how long a timing chain will truly last. I think I've heard timing chains needing to be replaced at 250K. Additionally, how long do you think you'd keep a vehicle with this many miles?
 
I looked at I don't know how many 4th gen 4runners before I bought my 04 a couple of weeks ago. Based on everything I saw on the market, I would pass on this deal. There are too many for sale with less miles and not much more money. I almost bought a different 04 V6 4x4 in St. Louis that had ~88k miles for $12K. That's $3000 more for 100K less miles but it was an SR5. Be patient and search daily, the right deal will come along. It did for me.

The CL ad is still up, she may still have it. If I remember correctly she is the second owner and is selling because she can't afford the gas with her commute. She may take even less.

For 11K you can do better than that. Not only does it have high mileage, but also shows an accident on the carfax. I've seen 4Runners for 11K with 110-130k miles.
 
Keep in mind, there is a 4th gen on here, V6 I might add, with well over 400,000 miles. Original engine and tranny and I don't think they mentioned replacing the timing chain.

Honestly, wait til summer when the gas prices go up. People unload trucks for lots cheaper. Then when winter comes around people want the 4wd and so the prices go up again. Just my 2 cents.
 
I agree with passing. I bought mine at the end of Jan this year and I live in Los Angeles. Mine is a 2007 with all the updates of the last few years of the 4th Gen---also a V/8 instead of the V/6 here---1 owner with perfect history and service intervals in Toyota's service database and Carfax no accidents---had exactly 100,300---new brakes, tires and pristine overall. I did the timing belt for peace of mind and that's it. I only paid $14795 + fees for it. Spend a few more $G's and get something with less miles and no accidents.

The good news is...if you decide to buy it the accident was had in 2/2010 and the original owner kept it 2 more years after the accident. Clearly it was reliable after that---too bad it doesn't list the mileage at the time of the accident to dertermine how much he drove it afterwards

I bought mine with 3 accidents in the history. All 3 were minor, air bags weren't deployed in either of them, and my truck actually still has the original factory windshield.
 
decisions decisions....i will know more once i test drive it and look it over in person...i just sold my 07 ltz tahoe for something alot less expensive...i wanted a 4runner in the first place but them ltz's are pretty sweet...i would just wait and save a little more but im currently being transferred jobs in another city as well as having to move colleges and "saving" any more is out of the question...

i thought obama was suppost to give us all this extra money? :bigok:
 
I don't think you should let the mileage scare you off. Judging from the pictures, this truck has been well maintained. Even the leather looks to be in great shape. I would definitely say it's a bit over priced. It is 2 wheel drive, no spoiler, V6, and high mileage. It may be in like-new running condition, but I would offer at the most 9,000. Actually personally I wouldn't offer anything just because it's a 2 wheel drive but maybe that's just me :D

EDIT: I don't have a spoiler either, but this is a Limited model which I had read came with a spoiler standard

Looking at the pics it appears the passenger side Headlight has been replaced. It looks clearer than the Drivers side. Front passenger side fender also looks like the paint/shine is "different" than the rest of the vehicle. Just my opinion. It was one owner so that says something. Try and contact the previous owner before you decide.
 
guess its ur area..there is an 03 v6 4runner listed for $9995 on cars.com 120k miles...methinks urs is over priced..i wudnt touch any car with more than 130k miles, and i always use the 15k/yr mileage rule
