19+ TRD Pro Fox Leveling?

Well after getting rid of my last 5th Gen 4runner. And our 2015 Tacoma... The wife HAD to have the Tacoma TRD Pro 2017. Was a nice truck but after 30K miles in almost 2 years we got to the point we couldn't take it. Regretted ever getting rid of my 4Runner which I just had perfect. We still have the FJ Cruiser which is mine but that new tacoma engine and overall ergonomics inside boiled me over every time I got in it. Long story short. We jumped on the first TRD Pro runner that came in. Happy as it gets again. Even has a sunroof and power seats! (I know 4runner standard but that tacoma didn't have anything) And the dang thing can cruise on highway at 80 and not skip a beat or drop 2 gears every incline.

Long Story short I am happy to be back in it. Now to install all the goodies I was smart enough to keep off my last one. For now I question the Fox Suspension these come speced with over the Bilstein's. Her truck had Fox and felt stiff and handled great. The runner feels MUCH softer to drive right off the bat and sits much more nose down. I don't want to mess with our OEM stuff as it was the main reason to pay the premium. I am going to try leaving it but already bothering me that its as soft as it is and drives tail end tall.

Anyone know or verify a 1" top plate spacer (1/2" making 1" lift) would work? I hate to go spacer route but if its just to get it closer to level the better. I would prefer to up the spring rate to help with brake dive but am seeing the Fox is much more picky about coil options.

Thanks in advance. I tried searching but could not find anything. I do NOT want to lift rear or more than level stock for what we need it for. I do plan on airbags in the rear to help with trailer or loaded down.

I'll never understand why people fork out the money for the "TRD PRO" only to want to change the suspension 2 months later. Wise money would just get the Sr5 and then put on a legit suspension system. #allforthebadge

Or worse yet, hamper the suspension performance by putting in spacers :redbrick:

OP, leave it stock. You paid a lot of money for that fancy suspension. Go out and use it.

Cornfed makes a tophat spacer for the new FOX suspension

Listen I do understand and I guess it does sound all wrong. I do intend to keep it stock if I can do what simply seems like every person does with a 1/2” spacer that “effects nothing” doesn’t change ride all the things I read. I got the pro because it’s “done” for what we intend to do with it. And we are enthusiasts as well as prefer the higher end vehicle for interior and all “badging” yes. Although you can buy a trail premium. I didn’t want to have to do all the black painting again as I did on my last one. Buying the grill as it does look great. We just really love to have a OEM as clean simple as possible. This is the wife’s daily driver.

I understand how bad it sounds to do spacer and don’t want to. But if a 1/2” spacer can level it just a tad more I will be happy. I do not want to stuff some 2+” spacers in the coil. I would go full kit in a minute.

Perhaps wrong to start this topic. As there are pages of this topic regarding the earlier TRD Pro Bilstein edition options.

Pro haters are all over this site - it's your truck, do what you want with it.

I see and it’s all fair everyone’s got opinions. I spent year plus on here every damn day reading to do my trail premium. I am fine with everyone’s input but. Just need to know what ACTUALLY WORKS with this suspension.

I don’t think most hate pros, they hate the unicorn attitudes of a mere few owners. Everything has that type, I am part of a electric-longboard community too, ohh god you think this can be bad, you haven’t seen anything yet, try stating logic to spoiled brat 16 year olds!

That’s the problem, the suspension is too new. No one knows what works yet.

I bought a full set of fox 2.5 dsc almost 5 years ago, they hadn’t sold many for 5th gens at the time, they sent me the wrong model (the 0-2” instead of the 3”’s), clocking was wrong on the hoses, they hadn’t adapted resi mounts for KDSS, also rear shock length is sub optimal (now folks are using the tundra version) long short is, didn’t dawn on me at the time me == guinea pig (along with a few other members too)

There are reasons to buy the TRD Pro other than just the suspension...

I bought mine because I like the overall appearance package. I like the front end better than the other models. I like the wheels that come with it. I like the red stitching, skid plate, etc.

Honestly, the suspension really isn't that great in stock form. I swapped the fronts for 6112's to get more height without spacers and taller rear springs. I now have the equivalent of a 2/1 lift which looks much better in my personal opinion.

I also swapped front and rear springs to stiffer units to get rid of the nose dive and body roll. TRD Pro still has this like every other stock 4runner.

The ride is perfect for what I want it to do now.

Some people act like it comes with some insanely high end suspension from the factory. Its not. Why are you surprised people would change it out?

It seems very odd to me that users on a site dedicated to modifying 4runners love to chime in and tell TRD Pro owners they have to leave their suspensions stock.

OP, do whatever you want. Its your vehicle. I am not sure on the spacer setup for the FOX suspension. You might look at swapping to taller or stiffer springs to get the lift versus spacers. Springs are pretty cheap and honestly not much more than some of the spacers out there.

Agreed....OP, prepare yourself, the winter of Trolls is approaching. Yes you could have just gotten the OR, and with the difference in price, added suspension, wheels, sliders, skid plate, diff drop/breather.

I am in a similar boat. I bought a Voodoo Blue Pro because I like the color. I would like a slight rise in the front as well. Would not mind changing springs but do not want a stiffer ride. I might even consider replacing the entire setup with mid travel and adjustable Kings. Just do not want a squeaky / noisy suspension going down the road. Would love to actually ride in a mid or long travel setup to see what it is all about. Even if I swapped the suspension all together still glad I bought the Pro.

I also have a '19 PRO and wanting to do this also.

The TRD Pro should come with adjustable front suspension so you can easily level it as you please and not have to install spacers.

Gotta love the "Pro owners are stupid, you should have bought a SR5P if you were gonna mod it, blah blah blah comments". Come on guys, GTF over this crap, people buy the Pro for a myriad of reasons, in my case mostly because it looks better right off of the lot and it has a better resale due to the rarity in comparison to the more common trim packages.

OP, do what you like to your vehicle and ignore the haters and trolls. I am currently running Cornfed spacers on ours for the very same reason you are wanting to run them, I hate the factory rake in stock form and I wanted to safely clear a slightly larger tire. Suspension wears out and I'll likely upgrade to BP-51's or King's in the future, but for now the spacers accomplish what I set out to do and I can get some mileage out of my factory suspension that I am "oh so stupid" for buying lol.
