1985 4 Runner steering box

I was told when I went for an alignment after I put on my OME lift that the steering box was worn and affected getting the alignment dialed in. The alignment was done by a friend who is a Toyota mechanic at the dealership. Before I invest in new tires, I want to correct this problem. I have been unable to find a how to on rebuilding the "push pull" steering box on my truck, any ideas? If someone has rebuilt the box did you send it out? if not who was your source for parts?

you will be ahead of the game to just replace it with a reman box.

better yet, do a cross over steering swap, and upgrade to the newer crossover box.

He has an OME lift, which is 2" or so.
Not enough to do an x-over steering set up.
But a drop pitman arm might help.

And yeah, a reman box is easier.

Id just get a re-man box. I'd offer to send you mines since it was still in really good shape when I replaced it with an IFS box, but I destroyed the threads on the pitman arm shaft when I was trying to remove it.

im new here and this is my first post but i have a box that came with my 85 i just bought. Not sure the condition but i dont really need it. Hate to think how much it would cost to ship.

Change to a IFS steering box they are better and high steer is super nice for clearance
