1988 4runner Swap Parking Brake

Can I swap the 1988 4Runner´s parking brake (stick type) for the "one button push" stick type for 1994 SR5 truck? hwell:

Do you know if the lenght and the bolt is the same? and I guess it works fine and better

Earlier trucks have a twist-and-pull handle, at some point they changed to a button on the handle instead. I don't know when it switched though. My '85 and '86 both have the twist-and-pull handle.

What I'd like to do is swap it out completely for a lever-style ebrake mounted on the trans column. Probably be a lot of work though.

Both mine had the button. Who knows, it could have been swapped. :noidea:

but the 4runner, I m pretty sure (almost mine) the handbrake doesnt have the button (and really the button help a lot).

your 88 4runner has an ebrake? wish i had 1.

The handle just pulls the cable and holds it tight. You should be able to make any style work provided the cable travel matches what your brakes need to hold and release. It would take some fab work and maybe a different cable/routing but it doesn't sound too complicated.

I second this! Would love a lever style ebrake somewhere by the shifters or somthing. Would have a lot more control when drifting in 4WD it seems like.
