1989 fender bender build

Do the pinch-weld mod and you'll be good to go. I've run 33/10/15s for a couple years now with no lift and didn't rub. Make sure u hammer, NOT CUT, the pinch weld flat. I just recently lifted my truck for more clearance underneath.

I love the white color truck on black rims. A favorite combo color of mine.

How's the engine and miles? Plan a rebuild on that or what?

The fender work looks perfect. Great job. Did you do your own paint? I can't even tell from the pictures that a junkyard fender went on.

BTW, is it just me or is there a huge hole in your exhaust near the end of the pipe on the hangers?

I'm am most definitely going to do that. Do you just silicone the seam when it is done? And I will eventually do a small lift on it but for now this will be good. I do like the way your T4R sits and it is still good for a daily driver

Thanks man! If been thinking about getting the top painted place also. And I just sprayed it with Rustoleom from Home Depot. It is a bit off but I will find a better match soon. Also that is a big hole in the exhaust, I live about 10 miles from the beach and everything rusts. But believe it or not that is the only rust on her. Engine has 2465483 miles and runs great. It does leak but I just ordered new valve cover gaskets from Toyota to fix that problem. I plan on degreasing the whole engine so if new leaks develop it will be a easy find

I didn't silicone the seam after I hammered it flat. For the lift I used 1.5" ball joint spacers and 2" OME rear springs. I had a ? for u, what primer and paint did u use on the replacement fender? Btw, I love the new rims! :cheers:

Thanks for the info! As for the fender paint and primer it is just from Home Depot. I plan on wet sanding it and finding a better match. The pictures make it blend a bit better than in person.

It is definately a bluer white than the rest of the truck, but who cares really? You have a clean clean 4runner, its just a fender.

I just thought that I would drop a small update on here. I have been fixing small things on the 4Runner while enjoying it as my daily driver. I have been doing a lot of preparation on it for a upcoming trip to Zion and The Grand Caynon. It will be mostly a backpacking and camping trip, maybe some small off-roading. Here is a picture of a few weeks back in San Deigo, I'll update with a more recent picture soon.

Your T4R looks great. Glad the fender lined up after the cuts too. These trucks are worth the hard work I'd say.

Well kinda a small set back with the ol' first gen. The other day I noticed when warming her up there was a slight knock/tick under the hood. After doing some searching/listening and feeling I could tell it was in the timing belt area. So today I tore her down to find a few things I didn't like. After some thinking I am now in the process of doing the full timing belt-water pump- hoses and a few other things. I'm also going to do my best to degrees the motor and find the one very small leak I have. Parts are on the way and should have a update tomorrow
