Hey everyone. Just replaced my starter on my 1990 4runner. Was having an issue with it not starting at times due to possible connections being bad. Pulled it in order to clean the contacts but due to an interference issue with a bolt, I replaced it with a reman'd.
Put the new starter in and was getting rough starts but it started. This morning when I went to start it, it wouldn't turn over at all. Just slow cranks. It has a new battery, but I threw the jumpbox on it anyways. Same issue. Put a different battery in (Neighbors from his 94), same thing. Pulled the starter, I'll be taking it back for another one. Just curious to know, if its not the starter, what could it be? I sanded down the neg. cable ground and reattached, as well as the positive.
I also had a couple of wires that I couldn't account for when I first replaced it that I'm still looking for where they go. If anyone could help me located where these are to attach, that would be great.
Thanks.
Rubber cover looking thing. Wire inside had a connector to connect to something.
It looks like its suppose to cover the circular thing under the oil filter but there isn't a connector on it.
This wire is in the same bundle as the positive line that goes to the starter. I've looked and looked and can't find anything missing a connector. It looks like it hasn't been connected to anything in a while.
