1991 T4R Running Boards

Hi,

I currently would like to get a set of OEM running boards for a 1991 T4R. Locally there's a set that looks complete off of a 1996. Does anyone know if 1996 running boards are compatible with 1991 models. I know the running boards with the larger fender moldings won't work but I can't seem to find good part numbers that will cross reference the two for an exact answer. Looking at the pictures in the ad, they look identical.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I literally threw mine in the dumpster over the weekend.... :frusty:
 
Haha!!! They only want $50 for the set to include all the end caps. I thought that's a pretty good price for their condition. I'm trying to have patience and find the right parts and do the vehicle justice.

Leaving those things off would do the vehicle justice! lol That's why I took them off and trashed them!

Personally I'd get a set of sliders and put some filler plates in them. They would act as a running board and also give you protection. Nobody will door ding you ever again. :whip2:
 
I agree but.........I have somewhat of a vertically challenged wife and the added rocker protection from gravel in the winter would be a huge plus.

This rig is extremely clean and will most likely rarely get driven. I just wanted something myself and the 7 year old could tinker on. If I could find the front OEM mud flaps I could probably live with that. I need to check a few more salvage yards. The first one had quite a few cool odds and ends.
 
Too bad your not closer. I have a both the running boards and mud flaps sitting in my shed. We could probably work out something with flaps. They would fit in a box

Thank you, it's much appreciated. I just found a set locally complete and in good shape this morning. I found the 4runner gold mine!!! I was like a kid in a candy store. I'm getting every hard to find or rare goody I can just to have!!! Thanks again.

When you were talking about mud flaps, were you talking about the OEM front molded mud flaps? If so, could you post a picture because I may be very interested. I saw a GEN 2 T4R yesterday with the OEM molded mud flaps and it looked pretty good so I may go that route and keep the running boards off. Thanks
