1992 4runner 4X4 with blown gaskets. Should I fix or junk?

Like the title says.. I would like to know if its worth fixing it at all... or just give up and send it to the junk yard?

Well I would throw a new one on but I personally like to work on stuff.. That being said it would all boils down to want and need... Do you want/can afford to fix it yourself? Do you need the 4runner(daily driver or toy)? Its not a hard job to just replace it just time consuming. But at the same time its not a small project either.. I would replace it but I'm sure others will chime in!!! Best of luck to ya..

Im with [MENTION=124080]NoLight[/MENTION]. I would fix it. I blew the bottom end out of mine and its still sitting waiting on parts and a place to get worked on. Gaskets shouldnt be to expensive. I think i found a complete top to bottom set for around $400. I would imagine that the top end set would be $200 or so

What I want and need. Well, I am disabled, on SSI and unable to work on my own car. Took me 2 hours to get the spare tire off due to the pain and somone else ended up helping get the spare on last time I had a flat.

I want (and need) a reliable vehicle to get to dr appointments and such. I like my 4runner when it was running, though the gas millage sucked. If I cannot find anyone locally (Garden Grove, CA) who can help work on it, it will have to go cause the landlord doesn't want non-running cars here. Frankly its making me very stressed out and exhausted.

Sell it. It will cost a small fortune to have a real mechanic do it. But then u will a car payment higher insurance ect. Maybe someone here will be able to help ya out.

Guess it depends on the condition of the rest of the vehicle. If the rest of the truck is solid and you like it, a rebuild may be cheaper than a new(er) ride.

If it's rough and you anticipate more repairs are in the near future, it'd probably be better to sell/trade into something better.

How rusty is it? They are great trucks except for the 3.0 head gasket issue and rust.

The body needs a paint job and has some bondo on the right front fender, but the rear frame was replaced a couple years ago. None of the people I know can replace a head gasket, except one guy who will not do it cause he is too busy and hates working on toyotas
