Hey Everyone,
I just bought a 1993 T4R and am having an issue with the Clutch. Basically what is happening is when I push in the clutch it sticks to the floor, it also won't go into any gear unless 1. the vehicle is off and NOT moving or 2. is already moving and is in 1st gear (and will move easily into all gears but 4th). It also will not downshift at all, what so ever. The problems seem to lessen the more I drive the vehicle for a single period (the hotter it gets?), but if I let it cool down the problems seem to get worse again (as it gets cold again?).
Once I'm in first gear I can get it into 2nd, 3rd and 5th easily. It doesn't want to go into 4th at all though, it just grinds. Previous to all of these issues it went into all of the gears easily and the clutch pedal returned to it's normal resting position.
My Theory:
Since I let it sit for around 2-3 months in my driveway and hadn't driven it I'm thinking it's an issue with he clutch fluid. (Transmission fluid??) I'm new to Toyotas and I'm not mechanical at all so I have no idea what could be causing this other than the fluid or some mechanical function I'm unaware of.
Any help is appreciated, guides/tutorials are even more helpful if you can link. I believe it takes Transmission fluid, so another question if it does is is it connected to the normal transmission fluid and if it's low I just replace the regular tranny fluid and that will fill the clutch transmission fluid as well or does it have it's own containment?
