1995 4 runner the good the bad, the sad

Would 95 runner be in the old timers forum.the mid timers forum or the new timers forum
??? Anyone else out there with a 95 this was a very good year!Lets talk,95 or older.9 years old and getting better! tell me about your 95? the good and bad, I want to hear it all.Ihave nothing but good things to say about my95 sr5 v6. I love this truck!!:happy bda

Mine is a 93 there was not much differance in our years.
I love mine too, other than some basic things. Head gasket recall,new water pump, all done by dealer under warranty.
I have had no problems with mine the most reliable truck I have ever owned.

I do think that if the engine ever does die I will do the 3.4L swap though. But I only hane 118K on mine now so I have a way to go.

Mine is in great condition for it's age, No rust,paint still good,inside is in mint condition,everything works,

some like to rag on the 3.0L because of lack of power, but overall I think it is a great truck.:thumb:

I talked this over with GatorGreg and we decided to put 2nd generation models in this sub-forum. Hopefully this will help you get your message & threads out to the right audience. If this doesn't fly or if their is a problem, heck we are flexible, we'll try something else.

My 4 runner has 115000 mi. on it bougth it off used car dealer, he tells me it was one owner, leased , ran carfax an found he was telling me right, I also took it to toy dealer ,had him check it out before I bougth it he could find nothing wrong. He did tell me this truck was not recalled for H.G. he ran the vin., but he said, he could not tell about timeing belt change, no sticker to say belt was changed at 90000. This is big bucks to get dealer to do it! Dealer says should change water pump, and timeing belt pulleys at same time.

Get the recall for the Head gaskets done and while they have it torn down have them put a new timeing belt on and maybe a new waterpump while your at it. This is what I had done and it only cost me around $200.

BTW you have alot of miles on it for not having the HG done make sure they look good for warped heads or cracked block, etc.
If they are make them replace it.

He said this 4 runner was built after toy. had changed to new type of H.G.My understanding is, there was two differnt problems with Toy H.G.s one was pre 1995 which Toy. fixed, then there was a new problem with 1996. HE tells me mine was built in the time of the first fix.But if my truck had been recalled, thats what I would do, get it all done at once. Still love this truck!

Yes...Yes... he's right.

My luck had it done on our 93 4Runner 3.0L and on my 96 T-100 3.4L and I still think Toyota's are great trucks.

95 4 Runner, awesome truck!

I just got my 4 runner from a friend, I traded him for my car, he really wanted an automatic, and I really wanted to get back to driving a stick. I love this year of the 4 runner. The new ones seriously don't look like they have much muscle, this truck looks so tough and masculine and it runs like it too. I feel safe in it, and it feels rock-solid. I know it's pretty slow on the take-off but I'm not worried about speed. I can simply run over the corolla that cut me off. Or just get close behind them and blind them with my headlights. My family's always had toyotas and sure they don't have all the little bells and whistles that GM has, but they are incredibly reliable and capable pieces of machinery. I love the sound of the engine and the whole experience of driving around with my friends with the sunroof, all 4 windows, and the rear gate window down in the hot california sun, so much fun. So many memories. If I could **** this truck I would. She's one sexy *****. We named her Roxy.

Are you telling me I can take my 93 4runner with 235,000 miles to a Toyota dealer and they are going to put new head gaskets on?

Welcome to the forum. Glad you're enjoying your 4R, they really are fun. Don't be an a$$ on the road though. We have too many drivers like that in the Bay already, we don't need any more.
