1995 4Runner spare tire tool kit missing parts

Ok, I have the tool kit that came with the 4Runner but it appears some parts are missing. I have the long rod with the hook on the end that is used with the bottle jack. I have the handle end that connects to that rod so you can turn it. Apparently I am missing though the piece that goes through the rear bumper that inserts into the cable winch that lets the spare tire down. I've searched a couple of junk yards already but can't find this piece. Does anybody have a picture that part? I am imagining that it is a long rod with a small cross piece on the end like a T. Searched the forums and Google'ed the part description but no luck so far.

Use the long stick with a hook on it under the rear seat and the handle will be in the rear storage compartment.

In the rear bumper there is a a small hole slide it in there angled in towards the drivers side. Look under under the bumper and land the hook it into the spare tire winch.

Exactly what Gonovr said. The rod with the hook with slide into the opening on the bumper and it will fit into the slot that you described as a "T" shape. Just twirl it the same way you would if it were attached to the bottle jack and the tire should begin to lower (or raise).

He doesn't need anything more than what he has to lower the spare. The rod with the hook was meant to be used for lowering the tire.

Oh ok. It is actually a 3 piece job. 1. the Hook 2. The middle extender 3. The Cross bar to turn in.

I thought it sounded like they were missing the middle extender bit. Without the middle, only using the hook part, it doesn't come far enough out of the bumper to attach to the cross member to turn.

Anyway. Trying to help.


EDIT: Wow. Ok, sorry. I had a senior moment. I am aware that on the 2nd gen runners, it is a 2 piece operation. You have the 1 long hook piece under the back seat you have to pullout.

Thanks for all the replies and offers. I tried shoving the hook in the slot in the bumper but it seemed to be a very tight fit and so I assumed that it wasn't the correct part. In fact, the previous owner made his own out of a steel rod with a kind of T on the end. However, it is flimsy and doesn't have a place to put the handle on the outside to turn it easily. I will try it again though.

DC runner - Do you still have this kit available and would you be willing to part with it? I have a 2003 4Runner and stripped that rod lowering a spare last week. Without that rod I have no way of raising the spare back to its resting place. I'd certainly be willing to cover shipping if you still had it.
