1995 T4R lacks power & stalls after warming up (when you push the clutch in to stop)
Hello! We just got a 1995 T4R 5spd, 3.0L, V6.
We got it from some friends for a good deal, they didn't want to put anymore money into it.
When we got it, it would start and idle like a dream. In order to take off though, you had to revv up the engine to a higher RPM than average and it was very touchy (if you didn't get it just right, it would start bucking and want to stall). Once you got going, it would handle flat terrain okay, but if you started up a hill (even just a residential incline) or tried to speed up, it would start bucking forcing you too down shift and keep the engine revved up high. My dad and I changed the ignition coil, distributor cap / rotor, and fuel filter. **We think the fuel filter was the original one, it was a horrendous job to get it out of there. When my dad blew on it, it shot out dirty looking gas. All of these things have helped it immensely! It will now take off at a lower RPM without bucking or threatening to stall. Still idles great. Starts up fine.
The problem now is after you drive it for awhile. Once you get it out on the road driving and it's warmed up (been running for awhile) when you pull up to a stop sign / light and push in the clutch to stop it just stalls. Dies completely. You can reach down immediately and turn it back on and it starts up / idles fine and will take off again. It goes up hills okay now. It doesn't buck, but it still seems to lack power for hills and speeding up.
The truck has recently had all the spark plugs / wires changed, new timing belt, and valve tune-up.
It is running better, but obviously before it can be reliable it has to stop stalling after it's warmed up and you push in the clutch.

(Also, right now we are running fuel injector cleaner through it.)
