Is it worth the possible rebuild?

? Automatic? Manual? 3.0? 22re?

It all depends on what shape your truck is in, and how much its worth to YOU, if putting some money in it isn't a bother for you, then yes it is totally worth it.

its a 3.0 engine and automatic...non 4x4

I talked to a few tranny guys...one guy said the tranny (I forgot the number) said the tranny in this year is a good one.

I rebuilt the engine about 25k miles ago..im leaning on keeping it,,,

just don't know enough about the tranny...

I already know that the 3.0 is not the greatest and the heads can be a problem and just want to make sure I'm not putting more money into another problem

1990 T4r 4x4 auto SR5, 210k miles. Approx. 2 months ago trans went 1st, the rest of the vehicle was fine. Found the problem was in the transfer case; according to the shop, they are not separate components. Majority of the cost was in labor removing and installation so authorized shop to rebuild both at a cost of $3200. Since it is not a 4x4 suspect it would be a lot cheaper. Then, 2 months later head gasket went, off to the shop for rebuild-ouch, had the head gasket gone first then likely be a different story?

Ever think about swapping a manual in? either way, finding a used transmission will be cheaper than having yours rebuilt and most wreckers offer a warranty on trannies.
