1996 4runner 3.4l V6 - Cold Air Intake

Check engine light just turned on so I got it checked out and it's an Emissions Code.. all other hoses look good. Was looking at the CAI and it needs to be replaced soon. Looking to stay OEM. Anyone have any leads on where to look or anyone have one laying around that they want to sale or give away??

The junk yards in my city on have 1995 4runners and under.. No 1996-2002 are available. So no luck there..

I couldnt tell you.. i was in a rush. I usually take it to Oreillys and they print it out for me but i just had the guy check it and i left at a friends shop. Just wanted to make sure it wasnt severe.
 
I have an Airaid CAI, but not the Airaid filter. I didn't notice any difference between it and the factory intake tube performance wise. People said their intakes got louder, but I didn't hear anything. Very easy to install, but I used real hose clamps for two smaller vacuum lines that connect to it rather than the pinch clamps.

Yea, the filter i can careless about. I just need to fix the intake tube. Performance wise, ehh idc either. Just need a running vehicle without any problems.
 
Is the item unavailable from Toyota dealers? 17881-62091, a bit over $90 at many places online. I believe the item was used through the '99 model year.

Well I called the toyota in my city and they said it was discontinued. Is 17881-62091 a phone number?? The Hose is can be from 1996-2002, is that what you were referring to on the " '99 model year" ??
 
1788162091 is the toyota part number for a 96-98 air intake hose. It seems that the 96-98 intake hose is one piece with the resonator installed on the side of the hose. The 99-2002 has two hoses with a resonator installed in series. I just bought the air raid intake tube and like it lots. I wasn't expecting any power gains, just wanted a cleaner look under the hood and to clear out some space, the stock resonator is big and bulky. The tube seems to be of good quality, and i didnt buy the kit with the filter.... i like oem filters more than aftermarkets.
 
Here's a pair of screen captures, merged together, that show how I got the information. At the web site I viewed, I had to use the diagrams for a 1997 4Runner because that site's page for the 1996 model was somewhat incomplete. I don't know why. That same site shows different looking pieces and part numbers on the 1998 and subsequent model years.

Mine is cracking and splitting at the tb end. I'm going to assume that even if I could find one in a boneyard it's going to be in similar shape. For now I've used RTV to seal it but I wasn't getting any codes, just noticed the cracks.

I just remembered this. Call these folks in Denver. Willing to bet he's got a few laying around and will ship. jim?s used toyota truck parts
 
I also have the AirAid, you can see a picture in My Garage. I personally love it. I did notice more noise. At the time I took the intake tube off for cleaning and it ripped about 3 inches. We dont have rust here in the SW, but the rubbers like to dry out.
 
The rubbers were completely gone on mine, tore to shreds as soon as I tried removing the intake tube, my solution was to make a new pipe with the intake silencers and find new couplers for either end, getting the pipe made was easy enough, took some basic measurements to an exhaust shop and they were able to weld in a reducer on one end and put a nice single bend and weld in bungs for the vacuum lines, finding couplers in a pinch was pretty hard, so I ended up with some strange materials, if you can deal with what you have now long enough to wait for shipping, Silicone Joints usually used for intake and turbo piping on cars would probably be your best bet.
