1996 4runner Build

So my parents let in and i can get a lift only if its spacer. Now heres the question do i get a 1.5" daystar or a 2" daystar one really new to this so any advice also do i want a polyurthane one? I feel like a metal one would be better

Just curious, but what's the thinking behind only allowing a spacer lift?

Cheaper and not going to affect any of the driveline stuff my dad said im not going to be out doing rock climbing its a daily driver but just want it to look a little more built up

No. If you're familiar with lights. dome light is a 31mm and the setup that I posted a link too,all you do it put the 31mm in and it's attached with wires already. There's nothing you gotta do but plug it in, check if it's in the right way then maybe turn it the opposite way.
White Car Interior 48 SMD LED Light Lamp Panel T10 Dome Bulb BA9S Adapter 12V (Panel 1) - Amazon.com
I ordered this and they worked for all 4 so now i have two dome lights leftover

I actually ordered the same thing. But then I decided I wanted bigger.. now I can't get any bigger and i'm in love. buy it if you have 7$. Such a good purchase.
Also if you have 2 left over you might be able to put them in your map lights. Check your map lights. My map lights took 31mm and now they're awesome.

If im right they are all universal because i could have my dome lights work as map lights or vice versa

Lift Ideas?and other crap

Hey guys so I'm starting to get some funds together and I'm stuck in between two things. Should i get a daystar 2.5in spacer or a toytec 2in body lift? Im not really sure the difference was just looking for some feedback you guys have had with them price is about the same so I'm gonna choose between one of those and then I'm looking for an led light bar for the front and i want to put it right in front of the grill has anyone else done this? Id like to get a bit of a cheap light bar since i don't really due enough offloading to fully need one quite yet

What are you lifting it for? Wheeling? Mall crawler?
Personally either way I would not go with either.
Body lifts are great for extra clearance but not great for primary lift, plus you'll have a 2 inch gap in between the body and the bumpers.
The spacers will only wear your springs out faster, and eventually sag. I would go suspension first. Old man Emu is always awesome and will last forever.
Just my $.02

I'm doing it purely just for looks nothing else and how would it affect the bumpers if I get a spacer lift technically it is suspension but I've looked and some people say they are fixed bumpers so you don't need to move them?that may be wrong haha I'm new with this stuff.

Memory's, I remember when I was 16 and got my 02. (3 years ago? Lol) Anyways I've ran 2.5" daystar spacers all around and love mine. Since you're not going to be crawling too much in a 2wd (too hard at least) I say daystars are just fine for a lift. I have ran them with stock, ( yes I said stock) springs all around. Up front I am running KYB monomax shocks, with the daystar spacers. In the rear I am running Procomp es9000 shocks, Air Lift 1000 air bags and the (again) daystar spacers.
I somehow have 3" of lift up front with my combo and about 3.5" in the rear. (Not including my body lift. )

Anyways welcome to the forum, nice to see another 2wd out there being built. I too own a 2wd ( Doing a solid axle swap soon though)

A spacer lift is just suspension. Your body won't move.
If you are talking about a body lift with spacers (only way to lift the body) then the rear bumper is fixed to the body but the front you will need to raise with either custom or bought brackets because that is mounted to the chassis.

Also check out my build. (Another 2wd build)

Thanks! Yea i think I'm gonna go for the 2.5in daystar lift after that do i need anything else when lifting it or just that?

You should look around for some color matched door handles to switch them out with the cheapo base model ones.
Haha they were red but i painted them black i thought about returning to red but i like how it gives a different feel to the car and matches the red/black theme I'm going for thanks tho!! any other ideas???

I would skip on the cheap lift. You could put that money towards getting some new coils and shocks. You could even get some 4WD height Monroe Quickstruts. When you take into consideration that your old suspension may have some sag and that 2WD's are lower, then they could give you a decent lift up.

The only thing is the tires are new so i don't want a huge lift because those are already a size bigger than my last ones and my struts are brand new less than 600 miles and once i go to college is when ill be seriously looking at this stuff but right now its just aesthetic I'm just stuck on if i want a 1.5in daystar spacer lift or the 2.5

I would keep saving up. When you install spacers you are still riding on the old worn out shocks and springs which is not fun.
