1996 4runner Build

I would keep saving up. When you install spacers you are still riding on the old worn out shocks and springs which is not fun.

You can still get new shocks and springs and still have oem ride quality.

I'm not to sure why people don't like spacers. I've run them 3 years strong and still love them. Again not doing any hard off roading I would save money for other projects.

I mean at this day and age, right now being on a teenage budget I understand saving money etc, for wanting to do stuff. I say go for the daystar lift. (Remember you need longer shocks in the rear after 2" of lift) Nothing is permanent, later down the road when you're ready and have enough then yes it would be nice to upgrade, but if you want a lift now like I did, Daystars are fine. Again I've been running them for 3 years.

I thought i could run stock shocks in the rear from what I've been reading?

Satoshi Mod?

So I've been keeping busy looking at all options for my lift but I've also began to notice the satoshi mod I'm really interested in it and my dad is in construction so tools are not a problem but i was wondering if anyone had any links to a how-to guide and any risk really? Not much money to spare at the moment so can't afford to mess it up:shrug:

Mhm so then i should go with a 1.5in lift?

I wouldn't settle for less lift.

I would gather up your parts before you do it, Bondo, Fiberglass, Mesh/screen.
You don't necessarily need an emblem. Go about it as you will, that's the point of these, here is a pretty good tutorial, Read this mate:

Thanks ya I've decided on the 2.5in lift since their seems to be no major differences and i can just add lift nd essentially be done and thanks for link i think ill stick stock for now since its not as big of a difference after i saw one in real life

Tires

So i was a few minutes away from ordering my lift until my dad popped in and made an interesting point. My tires which are a month old are 235/75/15 and my parents say its non negotiable for new tires. So now new question will it just look stupid with a 2.5in lift? Would 1.5 look a lot better?

I ran with 265/70/16s for a little more than a year with my 2.5" daystar lift. I then got my body lift of 1.5" and drove it for another 3-4 months! So that's a total of 4.5 lift with my stock 30 inch tires. Your tires are 29 inch so it wouldn't be too off from what it looked on mine.

Now, I was able to live with it because I knew I was getting new tires. Are you able to live with it knowing you won't?

Ps;
(It was more like 3 inches up front and 3.x in the rear, for some reason I got 3 inches with my strut combo up front.... The reason I got more lift in the rear is because of my Airlift 1000 bags)

Also if you can't convince your dad to sell off your old tires/wheels for 16s and 33s show him a pic of my rig! lol I would post a of her but it's your build thread. I don't want to steer it away from your Runner. (Go to the last pages of my build thread, for recents mate link is in my signature.)

Here is a picture of my 265/70/16s with the 2.5" (3"in reality)

Thanks that helps a lot! After talking a bit with my dad I'm now leaning towards the 1.5in lift only because it will give a better ride since i will most likely have this 4runner for only perhaps another 3 years before i get maybe an 02 with 4wd

Update on the Runner

So heres a bit of an update. My lift has been denied by my parents so that will not be happening :(. However I'm still looking for easy mods to do but not like deck plate or isr mod but things like lighting or maybe hids iam on a budget since everything that goes into this car i pay for so the cheaper the better tools rant a problem at my house being my dad has been in construction and always into cars for the last 20 years I've been thinking about doing the satoshi mod recently if anyone could link me to a good one that would be great! Other than that not much has been going on except i know I've made a plan that when i get out of college I'm getting another 4runner except this time 4x4:zoom:

That post was really hard to read. Try using some periods and commas next time. As for the Satoshi mod, I recommend that you search that since there are tons of threads on that topic.

Yea sorry about that. Ive been typing on my iPhone since my last computer just broke which explains no pics lately. Ive been trying to use the search bar but for whatever reason it won't load for me

its getting there haha not as fast as i would like finally after WW3 with parents can do anything but another sub and lift so that sucks but ya haha hbu?

That is a bummer, my parents probably wont let me lift mine either. Mines coming along pretty nicely, installed a 24" light bar (have a couple if you want to buy one), plasti dipped the rims, new antenna, T4R.org decal, etc. I have a link to my build thread in my signature.

I am 99% sure you will need longer shocks with anything 2" up.

I ran stock shocks on my built '96. LC coil 3.5" lift and wheeled it pretty hard. I can't imagine with a 2 wheel drive you are going to wheel near as hard as i do stock shocks should be fine.

Its coming along nice! Now i must ask about those dreaded running boards whyyy :( and how much for a light bar I've been interested in those for a while how hard was the wiring and all that?
