Question about the catalytic converter..seems to be getting hotter and feeling the heat through the floor mats.. when you lift the rubber floormat, after running some time, there is moisture. Seems weird. Could it be going bad and also does it affect the muffler also running hotter?

Last year and everything was fine..
When we are off road, it seems the under the passenger floor mat gets pretty warm and some moisture when you lift the mat. Now I did out a ne skid plate on, and this past weekend I drilled some holes and plasma cut sometriangles to give Iit some more air. I am hoping that helps release some heat.. that could be the culprit..

The CAT is supposed to get hot when it is doing its job - maybe 1400F or so. If you are having misfire issues and it has to handle unburned fuel and excessive emissions, it will get really hot....too hot. Misfires kill the CAT - they don't die on their own....they're murdered.....

Heh well there is one other thing that kills them, rust. I've seen rusted out cats driving down the road and you can SEE the ceramic blocks inside glowing red hot. That has to be heating up the underside of the car as well.
BTW this is how a lot of roadside fires get started. That and the fact that 99% of all cig smokers throw their butts out the window still lit!

Mine gets hot as well in the passenger side area. Mostly after longer grades at speed. It doesn't happen all the time but if it did, and if I had more time to investigate, I'd look into the heat shield. Either beef it up, replace it, etc.
You mentioned skid plates. Maybe take them off and drive around trying to recreate the heat. I only install my belly plates when I go offroad and that's usually on less than half of the trails I frequent. I have noticed them warm before so maybe that's your culprit.
