I hope you have this figured out by now, but you moved the steering wheel back and forth to ensure the steering wheel lock was not holding the key right?

Thanks MedicBob I had seen this but the pics do not open, do they open for you?

They do. Basically pop your center console off and look near the shifter. The shift interlock switch is there and can be loose or bad. Basically you cannot turn the key to off unless in park. Additionally is lets the ignition "release" the key. Search for "Interlock" and several post should show up in the 3rd gen section.

You can use a screwdriver in the little tab to the upper left of the shifter to get the key out. It's a manual override for the interlock switch.

I would order new bushings. Those are what go bad and cause the switch to not engage.

If you look in my build the last thing I did was post some pictures in this. I can put a link when I'm not in my phone.
