I know there are several threads about this topic elsewhere. Just wanted to start this thread to reference it later. About6 months ago I purchased my 4Runner. Everything ran really well and it seemed to be a well maintained truck.

It now has 167000 miles on it and I decided to switch to synthetic oirl.

I am using Pennzoil Platiunum 5w-30 with a Bosch Distance Plus filter.
Hope everything goes well. I'd like to see anyone else's experience in switching. And I will update this at the next change for documentation sake.

As long as you do not already have leaks that are plugged with petroleum sludge then you should be fine.
I have switched to 100% synthetic in every car/truck I have owned since 1977 without a single issue.

I had 157xxx on my 4runner when I bought it and switched to Amsoil, not a drop leaked in 2+ years.
