Worth it to me. I absolutely hate the cup holders that Toyota made. I've been having to deal with them in my Pickup and now the 4Runner and they suck

Just found this thread. The first wave of orders should be getting delivered today and tomorrow. About a dozen of the tracking numbers I have show delivery for today. In regards to price; I should give a break down so you guys can understand why 3D printing is WAY more expensive then mass production injection molding. First off the cup holder uses 1/2 of an entire spool not including the insert. The "PRO" grade I use costs $34 per spool. (I get a discount for being a regular buyer) Black PRO Series ABS Filament - 1.75mm
I can't use the cheap made in China stuff on these super long prints. The cheap stuff ends up warping and cracking around hour 12 and these are 27 hours to print, not including the insert. I'm spending just under $20 total for each cup holder just in filament. USPS flat rate is $11. Then there is the support removal, sanding, acetone bath, and painting. The acetone bath and paint costs $2-3 per cup holder. Then there is the 4 strips of 3M automotive adhesive which is about $1.50 for each cup holder. Then there is the where and tear on my machines. I tend to replace a LOT of parts with the amount of work I put my machines through. Then there is my HUGE electric bill every month and the taxes and paypal fees I have to pay on these. When all costs factored in, my out of pocket is in the $40-45 range each. This is actually a little higher than my original cost estimate on the thread I started. The print was a tad longer and more complicated (lots of supports) than I had expected. So $52 gives me a very modest profit. Quite a bit less than I was hoping for. I'm in no way over charging. You also have to understand that the body of the cup holder alone is in the 24-27 hour print time. Then the insert is around 5 hours. That is a LOT of time used up on a machine to make a small profit. My long term goal is to get my name and products out there enough that I can actually go the injection molding route. That is when I will start making a profit. When I first started making cup holders last year I was actually losing about $5 for every cup holder I sold and that was when I was charging more. Good idea, i do like it. Post up pics on how it mounts up. Its is cheaper than doing the 99+ center console conversion but no where near as clean :noidea:

There are 3 ways to mount it. It comes with 4 strips of 3M automotive adhesive already installed. Remove the backing and stick it on. Make sure the surface is totally clean and you use good force. Install time about 30 seconds. That is option one. Option two: for the folks who don't want any adhesive on their console. There are two screw holes. One underneath the insert and one on the front outer bottom edge. Hold the cup holder in place and pre drill the holes. Make sure to use a drill bit smaller than the diameter of the provided screws. Then screw them in with a screw driver manually. Stop when you get decent resistance. Install time for option two is about 5-10 minutes. Option 3: the one I encourage you to use. Use the adhesive AND provided scerws. You have to understand that this cup holder has the majority of its mass hanging off the console. That leaves a lot of weight just hanging there when you have two 44oz. cups, 2 pens, and a cell phone stuffed in there. In my 80 series designs there is no need for both because the console is very wide and the majority of the mass and weight is sitting ON the console and not hanging off the side. Better to be safe then sorry/drink all over the carpet. I apologize for being out of stock so much. I honestly have been restocking every day but by 10am I seem to be out of stock again. Sorry for the smell. I usually wait 48 hours after painting before I ship but many of you 4Runner guys were not being very patient so I shipped the day after I painted. The paint is fully dry but unfortunately it will be another day or 2 before the odor is totally gone. The good news for this next wave of orders is that we are now onto the weekend so they WILL get the proper 48 hour window of drying before they ship Monday morning. Also, thanks for the order.

I received my cup holder today. I haven't installed it yet as I plan to swap out the 97 console with a 99+ console that I've been cleaning up and painting. I know that seems redundant, but I want extra cup holder space — plus all the other benefits of the 99+ console too.
I'll post pics and do a review on the main cup holder thread once I get the new console installed and have a chance to use the cup holder itself for a little while.

Don't worry about it! I'm excited to have it. It came super fast. I got it Wednesday I think. It holds my giant water bottle too. Thanks for making an awesome product. like streetcreeper I've already got a 99+ console, but I wanted a big cup holder.
