1999 4Runner not pushing any warm air

I have a 1999 4Runner and recently it stopped pushing warm air. I replaced the climate control thinking it had gone bad, but that did not fix it. Any ideas? Heater core? A/C Heater control? Thanks in advance.

Is the blower/fan moving air?

If so, the first thing I would check is your coolant level. It could be low and you have a decent amount of air in the system.

I think it usually starts out as an intermittent no heat, then really hot. If it is low you can sometimes hear the coolant sloshing around in the heater core as you make a turn.

I’m not sure about your model, but usually if the heater core is leaking the floor will get wet and you’ll smell coolant

There's a blend door servo/motor that's been known to go bad. Chances are it's stuck in a position that is only flowing air past the heater core and not through it.

Is it blowing cold air or not blowing at all? If cold air, check coolant level first. Check that when you switch the temp control from cold to hot the water valve in the heater hose assembly on the firewall moves. What is your engine temp? Is a stuck open thermostat making your engine run cool? By turning the temp from hot to cold do you notice any difference in temp, do you hear or can you see the temp blend door moving. If all that stuff is ok, remove both heater hoses from the heater core and put a garden hose to it to see if it is plugged. If so try to flush it out.
If you have no fan/no air movement check the fuse, then find the blower motor resistor and wiggle the plug, find the blower motor and bang on it and wiggle the plug. if it doesn't come on put 12V to the fan, if it doesn't come on replace it. If it does come on check the resistor.

Thanks. I've been doing some additional reading and I think that's the case with mine. It's been making a weird clicking for quite a while now. Just need to find a replacement part. The actual replacement doesn't look too terribly difficult. Will update once I replace it. Thanks.

Is it a limited with the Auto Climate control? If so, the clicking is most likely a stripped plastic gear in the servo. Only half the gear is used, so you can remove it, flip it 180 and place it back in the servo. The gear should then last another 20 or so years!

I did this last winter, on my 1999 Limited and working great so far.
