1999 cluster in a 1997? Will it work?

The trip meter reset button and a few other items have quit working on my 4runner. Will the cluster from a newer 3rd gen work in it? Are the plugs different?

Not sure about the plugs, but the shape is also different. Specially towards the gas and temperature gauges.

Odd that the glass will transfer between the older and newer 3rd gen clusters if the shape is different physically.

Well one difference that sticks out to me is the 99 has the digital odometer and the 97 has analog. Not sure on a retrofit but looks like not worth the hassle because of differences.

The shape is not different on my '97 vs the '99 one I got to swap in.
However, the plugs are completely different.
The '99 cluster has almost twice as many wires going to it- if I remember correctly.
I need to get a EWD for both and see if it's possible without swapping the whole body harness or something [emoji23]
I got it from the '99 I got my R150 from- I think a '99 manual cluster is fairly hard to get ahold of.
