i don't, i know a guy who owns a construction company who has well over 500,000 on his tundra and his kids beat the living crap outta it always reverse drops and things plus continuously towing and still hasn't really had to do anything.

No kidding. I had the same thought. I was stoked I'm coming up on 225k. After reading this I realize mines is just getting started.

Side note. A friend drives all over for work and has a 2010 Tacoma pushing 400 something thousand right now on original motor and tranny. He'll catch up to OP in a few more years.

Well, it's been awile since I posted last up date on my all original 1999 Toyota Limited 4Runner. I just turned over 650,000 miles on original engine and transmission



I had to replace the alternator (2nd time), timing belt (6th time) and a front brake replacement but, other than that nothing but regular scheduled maintenance performed every 5,000 miles.



My dealer performed a compression check on the engine and said that all cylinders are within specs with minor Loss of compression 5-10 psi not bad on an engine that has 650,000 miles on it.

Dealer also stated that he knows of no other 4Runner in Texas that has this many miles on an original engine and tranny. I am shooting for 1-million miles without touching engine or tranny.



This has been a fun ride with no roadside breakdowns or letdowns.



I am going to have detailed this weekend by a professional detailing company.

She deserves it.

Maintenance outweighs Miles?

This story, albeit, from 2012 is amazing. In my shopping around for a quality 3rd gen 4Runner, I was weary about mileage in the 250k+ range. One of the OP's early post of regular service/maintenance mirrored something I was told by a toyota mechanic, "Maintenance records outweigh the miles." I have all purchase/service/parts records and receipts for everything since date of purchase. At 262k, I sure hope that holds up and gets me to 500k+! :nod:
