1999 Rear Power Window Help (Can't find an answer in other posts)

Another post about troubleshooting the rear power window.. I've looked around and tried common solutions, but I haven't found my problem described in other posts.

I can get the window to work via the console switch, tailgate key, and fob, but only sometimes. My investigation started when the window dropped itself about 6 inches and wouldn't roll back up. I got the window back up just by disconnecting/reconnecting the 3 relay connectors in the rear door. Everything worked for about a day, then nothing worked again.
Coming back to the problem now, I can get the window to consistently work with the door key and fob only when the rear door is about half open. Nothing at fully closed or fully open (I assume it shouldn't work anyways when fully open). Haven't been able to test the center console switch yet.

The connectors seem to be good. Have not found any damage to wires either. Mechanically it works well and without strange noises. Opening up the interior side, the parts are a bit rusted but everything is still securely mounted and connected with no visible damage.

If everything works as intended but only in a certain position, it has to be a faulty limit switch, right? I have wiring diagrams, but how do I go about testing the switches?

could it possibly be broken wires within the jackets? ive read about that happening before and i am also having issues with my window rolling down on its own and not going back up. i figured this because i could hear clicking going on within the hatch when i would wiggle the wiring harness. my plan this summer is to pull the whole rear harness and rewire and repin the harness with new wires so it takes another 20 years for it to act up again.

Yeah, broken wires in the hatch loom will do this - where it goes between the body and the hatch.

You've probably already checked this as it seems this is a more complicated problem, but just as a sanity check, make sure that your window lock isn't depressed on your driver's side window control panel. That one got me a few times (I'm not the smartest person).

And it only slipped down once, about a year ago. I may have been fiddling with the console switch or something, I can't remember.

I haven't checked the wires in the hatch loom because I have normal operation, just limited to a particular position. I figure theres a bad switch and I can have it in just the right spot to have it fall closed. How would I identify the switch(es) for testing? It all looks pretty alien to me.

yellow wire in the hatch bundle-pull and if it stretches it's broke...fixed mine x2

A broken wire in that hatch harness can connect and disconnect as the hatch raises and lowers. See that kind of thing all the time.
