1999 Trailer Light connector Help!

My trailer lights do not all work, but they work on my friends truck so I know it is the connector unit on the 4 runner.

I can not see how to hook this up even if I can get one. Do you snip the wires and splice it in some how? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

You don't give much info here - do I gather that you have a trailer plug on your 4R but it's not working? Was it OE or aftermarket?

Besides the connector itself, it can be the wiring - or in many cases the "module". There is a trailer light module on most imports that convert the separate tail and turn lights into the single light trailer configuration. You can get the whole kit (module, wiring, and plug) at an auto parts store.

If you have a test light you can check the output of the plug and know if you just have a connection problem or electrical problem.

If you can leave more info, I'll try to be more help.

Thanks for responding, Steve. It is Origonal Equipment and I get tail lights when I plug the trailer in, but no turn signals or stop lights. I was thinking of shooting some WD-40 in there and see if it helps.

My next option would be to get the replacement from the dealer but I can not see how it hooks up.

The WD40 can't hurt to try. If you have no output then you may have a bad connection to vehicle harness or a bad module.

Here's a link to a OEM connector type module. I've had good luck with these made by Hoppy. These "T" into your factory wiring near the back and also include the conversion module.

You can get a kit cheaper that splices into tail light wiring but that brings other potential problems into play. Good luck!
