1st Camping trip in T4R

Took my son out for a cub scout camp out. There were 4 or so cub/boy scout troops having this camping excursion. Loaded everything up in the 4R and off we went!
Tent, cooler, slleping bags, and everything needed. It was great to pull up next to your camp spot, get it all unloaded and and move on. We didn;t sleep in the 4R. We had air mattresses so we were roughing it! Great time, easy to get everything in and out and was a great vehicle to have for the adventure!!!

4Runner Camping

Sounds like a great time. We use our 4Runner for many outdoor activities including the four types of camping we do:

1) "Chalet" (A-frame camper) off-road camping. We like to frequent backwoods camping spots that require a vehicle with good all season traction and good ground clearance. Our Chalet actually has greater ground clearance than our 4Runner! The 4Runner tows it like it isn't even there.

2) Car tent camping. With efficient packing we can fit our tent, canopy, stove, cooler, chairs, table, sleeping pads and bags, and everything else we need inside the 4Runner and on the roof rack. Admittedly this is the only times that we sometimes wish for a bigger vehicle!

3) 4Runner camping. Sometimes just the wife and I just like to get away for a fast weekend camping in the state or national forests. We attach a tarp and windows screens to the 4Runner and sleep in the back! We can get into some pretty obscure and remote locations. We do this year round thanks to good sleeping bags and appropriate clothing.

4) Backpacking. Leaving the 4Runner at the trailhead, although sometimes I wish for an older beater for this purpose.

The 4Runner is a great camping vehicle and one of the major reasons we have one!
