1st Gen Rear Bumper W/Receiver Hitch

I know bumpers are an oft discussed topic around here but after a good amount of searching I haven't been able to find what I'm after.

Currently I'm running a factory bumper and a class III hitch I picked up for pretty cheap. The problems I have with it is I can't fit my slightly oversized spare underneath with the hitch installed and it's way overkill for me because the only thing I will ever use it for is a hitch bike rack.

Anyway, I'm looking for the most minimalist bumper I can find with an integrated receiver hitch. I know about the trailgear one and don't particularly care for the style of it. Not a fan of the big gap it leaves under the tailgate and I don't think I will need the tube armor that goes up on the sides.

Anyone know of a bumper that fits the bill? I've considered modifying jeep bumpers as well.

I had thesmittybilt on mine.
Was similar to this Smittybilt Tubular Rear Bumper with Hitch Gloss Black - SB-JB44-RH. It's prity easy to mod one to bolt up to the vertical rails of your class 3 receiver. then cut off the extra that hangs down.

Marlin Crawler, All Pro, Addicted Offroad, 4xInnovations, lots of companies make a rear tube bumper for the 4Runner, but they're all going to be on that same basic pattern that you don't like. Try contacting Addicted Offroad or 4xInnovations, they might be willing to whip you out something custom. Or buy a pair of the frame brackets from 4xInnovations and find somebody local with a tube bender and get to work.

His point is to get rid of the large receiver he has so he can fit a spare tire.

I agree with kid, get some brackets and/or have someone build exactly what you want

Was looking at trying to get this to work with some mounts from Davez. Wouldn't be any protection around the side though unless I left my plastic bumper extensions in place.

I emailed several builders and haven't gotten much of a response from any of them. Guess I could live with something like a trail gear but like I said earlier, I wish it just sat a little more flush with the body and it's also probably a bit overkill for what I'll be doing with the rig.

Man that looks perfect. It looks a lot like that procomp bumper with bumper extensions welded on.

All-Pro recently re-released a rear bumper for the 84-89 4Runners. Although it says it is not compatible with the spare tire, I think it will fit with the re-design. We have their older version on our '85 and I think a factory size spare will fit. If interested, I'd contact them for some measurements to be sure. I also like the plate bumpers other posted, too bad they aren't in production.

I if you are still on this forum could you tell me where you got the bumper pictured on the white Toyota, and what year it is please ? I'm looking for one to fit a 1986 4Runner.
