1st gen roll bar in 2nd gen

Bought a roll bar today and am going to be putting it in my second gen. Been reading a ton of info on it but some say to only cut 2 inches off the front and same say off all 4.

I want it to be as close to the roof as possible. Any help from someone who has done it would be nice.

Did you try to fit it first? Take a measuring tape to it?

Measure once, cut twice.

But i will do some measuring today and possibly a test fit. I know I saw a thread pretty recently of someone who did it on here.

It's just not long enough no matter how many times you trim it, huh?

Well I did a test fit yesterday and it is very close to fitting but the front legs definetly need some cutting and possibly a inch or so on the rear legs. When I get done I will post up some pics

You should post up some dimensions too so the next lazy guy doesn't have to get them himself. :flipoff:

Ya I will post up all the info for sure. All I got so far is a few scratched up panels.

I just installed one in my 3rd gen.

Ended up cutting the front legs 1.75" below the welded seatbelt bracket and I angled the feet 10* to conform to the wheel wells.

I did not have to cut the back legs.

Ok update.

Just got it back from the welder. He cut 2 inches off all four corners and its a perfect fit. It goes right up to the top panels.

Next step is deciding if I want it black or white.

Well I got bored yesterday and wanted to see what white would look like. Used some printer paper to wrap it.
