2" Body lift

Okay so after much debate I think I'm going to go with this 2" Body lift.

Few questions.
1. Are they easy to install, what tools/equipment are needed?
2. Will there be any ride changes or problems that would occur.
3. Does anyone have pics of a 4runner with a 2" body lift.

I figured I can raise my truck higher without having to drop so much for new suspension. Please post pics and or suggestions thanks!

add a front bumper bracket set to that



remember to unbolt the steering shaft and transmission linkage BEFORE lifting ANYTHING

other than that, the instructions should cover everything

Good point about the bumper bracket, I forgot to mention that since I have an ARB and didn't need that part.

Passengers rear wont go up

ok so ive been at it for a few hours now and cant seem to get the last two blocks in for the passenger rear sd?
Any help?

Im running the Toytec 2" BL. It was really pretty simple to install. Took me a couple hours out in the 15 degree weather to get it on, but wasnt too bad. They sent me 10 spacers I think, but my rig only had 8. Something like that, dont remember. The kit should come with the radiator drop brackets and the steering shaft spacer. You wont need the radiator brackets though. Exactly 2" down where you will be installing your radiator after the lift is already 2 holes that you can bolt the radiator back up to.


Edit: Also, as far as the front bumper goes. Thats a very easy fix. When I still had my stock bumper, I just unbolted the stock brackets from the bumper, moved them exactly 2" down, redrilled holes in the brackets only, then bolted them back in the stock holes in the bumper. Worked perfect!!

Oh yeah, dont do like most of us did. Make sure you drop your spare tire down before you lift it!! If you didnt, you can still remove the plastice piece from the top of the bumper just far enough to get the rod in there to lower it. My BL has been on for 4 months now, and I just last weekend got my spare down!

Do you have a tow hitch on the back of your Runner? If so, can you post a pic of the back? One of the main things that keeps me away from the 2" bl is the gap between the hitch & rear bumper. I know a custom rear bumper would fix it, but I'm not exactly looking to go that far just yet.

Oh, and I think your bl came with 2 more spacers than you needed because the 96 models have 2 less body mounts than the 97's and later. Probably easier for them to sell all bl's with the max # of spacers.

No, unfortunately I dont have a towhitch. Im holding out til I can buy Addicted's rear bumper. Also, thanks for clearing that up as far as the spacers go!! I was wondering why they sent me so many!!

This is modified with the 1.5" BL on and it's pretty much up against the bumper. A 2" BLcan be done the same way. This also still retains the original bolt points. I've used this hitch multiple times to recover and yank friends and they've held out well...

I will eventually weld on gusset plates to reinforce it further....just to give you an idea.

QUick question! need help fast!

I am going with a 3 inch suspension lift and a 2 inch body and I need to know if I need longer brake lines!!! and what size brake lines I need as well!! I am wanting to order all this ASAP so answers would be great! I have a 97 4runner. Thank you!!

You need a socket set and a jack. Sime patience and a friend if you don't want to do it solo. I used the toytec kit when I did mine. It came with the radiator backer thing but I didn't need it. There holes two inches down that work perfectly. I drilled two holes in the bumper and it was done. There's pics in my build thread.

First of let me say that Roger Brown and the 4Crwaler team are great. He is all about the customer service and returning emails in a very quick manor.

Now let me say that there is not very much information on here regarding a 2" Manual transmission lift.
Two problems that I ran into, were first the major one on this 2" kit I got came with the steering spacer that was a bit too large and I mean 60 thousandths. The problem with this is that it would bump into the slave cylinder bleeder valve. Not allowing the steering wheel to turn at all and binding on the "little ears"
Roger said that I could send it back to swap out for the 1.5 incher, which more than likely would have worked.
I just carried it down the street and threw it on the drill press redrilled the holes that were for the other two bolts then chucked it in the lathe and began to take off some meat!
Long story short have the 1.5" steering spacer sent to you for the 2" manual body lift, that's all

Quick question for everyone with a 4X4 3rd gen and is running a 2" body lift, did you encounter any issues with the transfer case shifter? I am running a 1.5" BL and I know the automatic transmission shifter is fine, but the transfer case shifter is pretty low. Also, did anyone have any issues with needing to extend brake lines, fuel lines, etc.?

No issues there with brake lines ,fuel lines or the like although there is a good chance you will have to extend the gas filler tube. Or it may leak a little when filling.:thumb3:
