2 questions about a mysterious piece that came with my 2017

1) I have a random piece of plastic. Like a cover that came with the runner. It was in the trunk and I have no idea where it goes.

2) I have a drl button next to my wiper defrost and the power voltage button. And I have a drl setting on my "blinker stick" that come out of the steering wheel. I do t know what to do with these 2. Like what more than drl on and off can I possibly do here....

Im curious as well.. Give a test and see what it activates.. its probably a hidden jet pack

Aside from hoping that it is a Driver side Rocket Launcher (DRL), I would say now is a good time to check the manual. Perhaps (just guessing here) you could turn DRL on when not wanting auto lights by switching to the off on the blinker and turning DRL on by switch. My old fashioned 2013 doesn't do that kinda fancy though so I really have no idea.:biggrin2:

drl button is for 2 in 1 DRL fog lamps. Its a option from the dealer. Its pretty cool upgrade if you got it at time of purchase.

Your 2 in 1 DRL has 6 mini led lights surrounding a main LED light.

Mine came with the 2 in 1 fog lights/daytime running lights option.

The button on the dash enables/disables the Daytime Running Lights (DRL). As others said, it's the LED halo around the fog lights. Works REALLY well!

The second switch ring on the light stalk is for the fog lights. At night, the DRLs are automatically disabled when the headlights are on. The center portion of the 2 in 1 lights are the fog lights, which will work in conjunction with your headlights.

The plastic bracket is the front license plate bracket. Fortunately, my dealer didn't drill the front bumper and mount the bracket... like another dealership did to my truck. Our state doesn't have the dual license plate requirement. Anyone want an extra bracket?

What is the purpose of "daytime running lights" anyway?

Also, do they automatically turn off when you shut off the engine?

Someone post some photos already of these lights, From the paper added instructions and the fact the switch does not look OME is this a dealer add? I didn't see this as an option on the Toyota website, assuming this is something regional dealers are adding like those STX package or w/e that was called.

I know the first peice is for front license plate but my 2017 trd off road premium lacks the drl button - i have fog lamps and daytime running lights on the headlight toggle but theres a blank spot where your button is in my truck - i do know that insurance companies give better rates if you have daytime running lights on your vehicle so even if u dont use them they are a good thing

Interesting. I assume that the high beams also double as DRLs?

Increase visibility to oncoming traffic.

Also, do they automatically turn off when you shut off the engine?

My 2013 Limited has ones that shut off automatically if you select the switch for automatic DLR/Main Lights or I can manually turn just the DLRs on/off separately. My DLRs are big horizontally mounted rectangular amber lights and the switches are part of the "rotating column dial selector", not a panel mounted switch like the OP posted.
