20 inch wheels on LIMITED

For the longest time I've been wondering what the 20" Limited wheels would look like on duratracs. I think it looks bad ass. Thanks for sharing. You are probably the only one on the forums running 20" Duratracs especially on the OEM 20's

Thanks! I saw those tires and liked them so much, I was willing to take a sawzall and a torch to my '14 rig. I am really impressed with the look and the extra height. I wanted something aggressive and really liked the stock wheels. It was either DuraTracs or BFGs. Either way, I was going to keep the 20's.

For those that want to keep the stock tire size, Bridgestone has come out with the Dueler H/L Alenza Plus in 245/60R20. The H/L Alenza was a great road tire, so I assume the Plus model will be similar. I’m considering the idea of keeping the stock tire size for a little while, replacing with these Alenzas when the time comes, and having a separate 17” winter set with ATs for dealing with snow/potholes. I'll still probably end up with 275/55R20 ATs though and call it a day.

By the way, has anyone on this forum put the 275/55R20 General Grabber HTs on the 20” Limited rims yet? It seems like this is the only tire left that is recommended by the manufacturer for the 7” wide wheel in the 275/55 size. I’m not sure if anything sets it apart in terms of the wheel width fit, but was curious as this is supposedly a good road tire.

Interesting. It looks like the General Grabber UHP in 275/55/20 is now only recommended for a 7.5"+ wheel (whereas it was previously for 7.0"+). 6 months ago there were 4 options, now we're down to 2.


The last 2 remaining tires for 7" wheels....

I have 20" XD Monster wheels on my '14 LE. I've been going back and forth trying to decide whether I wanted to keep them on, or put my stock 20's back on and get bigger tires. You've just reassured me that my stock wheels w/ bigger tires is the way to go!!

Those are definitely expensive, but great to have an option. Wonder if there would be any rubbing issues since they are an inch larger diameter wise.

If you want to get the OEM Yokohamas you'd be spending only a few hundred less but yes these tires will def take a hit to your wallet..

Numerous other guys are running 265/60/20 without issue. Also tire rack is reporting these as alternative tires to OEM so I assume they ran the specs

I'm new to tires and wheels, but I'm torn between paying for the new Goodyear Wranglers, and replacing with a tire/wheel combination. My question is, how do you know if spacers will be needed on a new wheel. The stock limited wheels are 7" wide and the XD Addicts I'm looking at are 9" wide, I would think 2" is enough to need spacers but am not for sure.

Thanks to the help of Renegad44, I got the wagon wheels off of my Limited and put on some KMC Skitch 20x8.5 wheels. I replaced all 5 and let me tell you something, the ride is 10,000 times better! The breaking is much improved and the stability has dramatically improved and nose dive is minimal. It is a totally new vehicle! The rubber mounted to them are the Toyo OpenCountry H/T's 275 55 R20's.

This setup ran me $3100 out the door. This was due to replacing all 5 wheels and tires, new lugs, TPMS rebuild, and locking lugs.

Thanks. It is an investment that will pay off in the long run and give you more versatility. I did it for safety reasons and nowI can go up to the mountains and passes without too much worry.

That is good to here! I have to take it back in for lug re-torque this Saturday and I will have them look over and make sure that everything is good. Thanks for your help and thanks for the compliment!

Why would wheels and/or tires improve or worsen the "nose dive". I thought that was mostly suspension?
