ive been asking all over this forum, and still no answers. can the 20 inch rims on the limited handle 275/55 profile tires? Anyone know how wide they are. (most of the toyota rims are 7.5 inches wide i believe, and I ? if that would accomodate 275 wide tires). thanks

The rims are 7.5" according to this. If that is true that size tire should work ok but 7.5" is the minimum recommended rim width for 275/55's. The O.D. is just under 32". So far it seems the 5th gens, like the 4th, can handle tires in the 32" range just fine.

I got some 17" wheels off the FJ cruiser. What is the biggest size tire i can fit on it without any rubbing or lifting?

As far as you posting over again the SAME EXACT question on a new thread because you didn't get an answer. Usually we just bump the old one up by posting "bump" and it will go to the top.

If you look under your car at your spare it says right on it that it is a 20 x 7 J .Pretty sure the 7 stands for rim width. Not sure what the J stands for.

Maybe you didn't get an answer because nobody has done it and you are stepping up to a 10.82" width tire that requires rim width of 7.5-9.5 inch rim from a 9.64 inch tire. Here is a tire size calculator Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

You will be the first with FJ wheels on a 5th. They should look good! The backspacing is different on the FJ wheels. 4.75" compared to 4.5" as the FJ wheels are wider at 7.5 inches wide.
I have a brand new set of 5 sitting back in my storage building that I was going to put on before I traded for SR5 wheels. 275/70/17 is as big as you can go without rubbing on a stock suspension rig.Probably the number one topic on the 5th forum.....asked by many.

if the rim is only 7 inchs wide, that tire size apparently wont work.

I would be interested in this answer as well. If anyone finds out an answer to this before I do please do post! Love the 20' wheels from the side but they look just too skinny

Awesome looking tires!! Do you have any front or rear shots? Just curious if they still look super skinny from the rear with these wider tires. How much did you end up paying for them? I've been seeing prices as low as $195

much better look! thanks for posting pics. time to tire shop!

btw, how's the road noise with these tires? i had the TGs on my previous FJ and they were on the loud side.

To be honest, I really can't tell much of a difference between the stockers and the TGs on both ride quality and noise and I've driven them at about 80mph on the highway.

Thanks Shooter. One more thing. Any difference in stopping power while applying the brakes with the heavier tires?

wow looks good. While you managed the unthinkable, which tire store let you put 275 tires on 7 inch wide rims when the MIN rim width for a tire this large is 7.5 inches? I hope you understand the tires arent as well supported on this skinny rim and there may be risk of blowout. Others here can feel free to comment. this is part of reason why many limited owners cant stand the current rims, not to mention very limited tires for this size. Good job toyota!
