I looked at them and considered one, until I opened one and saw how little they are inside and how heavy they are. Those super thick walls take up a lot of space. Not for me personally, but I can see where folks would have a need (want) for one. If I had no cooler at all, maybe .....

I got mine for my boat mostly and because they can hold ice for days. I'm in Vegas so having a decent cooler in the summer is worth it for sure. I would never consider one at full price but this sale and the dividend made it too good to pass up

I should have mentioned that I am at 49 degrees north, and right on the water (salt water). One summer here we never saw 80 .., Almost any cooler is good enough!

Thanks for the heads up on this one OP! I had just assumed that they would exclude Yeti's from this deal as REI tends to exclude big ticket items from high percent off deals. I didn't have the same dividend that a lot of y'all have but it was still enough to make a dent on top of the savings. I picked up the last 65 that the REI in Richmond, VA had in stock. The cashier told me everyone had been using their member coupons on them; glad I checked in today.

Can't wait to use this one all summer!

REI is a coop. It's $20 for a lifetime 'membership' that gives you dividends on your purchases. 10% back on all full price items... They do have a credit card too too. It's an additional 5% back and 1% on everything else (2% on groceries) lots of info, and you can find more on their website

If anyone is looking for a nice big cooler and doesn't want to spend half a G on one:

BJ's is having a sale this month on the Coleman Xtreme Marine 150 for $60. Compare that to a Yeti 160 (~150 quarts) which costs $680. Yes, 11x as much. The hardware on the Coleman is definitely not as sexy as the Yeti but according to some tests they have similar ice-retention times. YMMV.
