20" Wheels

Ckon. I live in chicago and would be interested let me know.

Thanx for the offer. I'm sorry to be dragging my feet on this, but I'm so totally undecided on this project that I'm going to go to my dealer on Monday to take a drive in an SR5 to make my final decision. Then I can either go forward or just give up on the idea and keep my 20 inchers. I'll keep you posted.

BradJ in Texas - where are you located? I have a new Limited coming in about a week and might be interested in trading the new 20s with you, depending on how far I would have to drive to make the swap. I'm in northwest Arkansas and will be looking to trade my new 20s for new 17s in about a week. Thanks!

Austin.... Thats a really far drive to northwest arkansas.

It sure is a long drive, but a great place to live! (at either end of the drive) I used to have a girlfriend in Austin and made the trip just about every-other weekend so I know the road well. If nothing else works out for either of us perhaps we could meet in Dallas or something...

Decided to stay w/ the 20" wheels

I went to the dealer today and he let me use an SR5 for an hour or so. The difference in feel between the SR5 and my Limited is quite pronounced - much smoother - to the point of feeling a little bit too soft for me.

However, it's hard to tell the reason for such a contrast. The SR5 is somewhat lighter (200-400 pounds?), doesn't have XREAS and has the 17" wheels and tires so it's kinda hard to totally know what accounts for the difference, though I think it's mainly the XREAS and the tires/wheels.

I'm not too crazy for the choppiness of my wheels/tires on our sh***y roads around here, but I really don't want to go too far toward the comparative mushiness I felt, either.

Anyway, to make a long story even longer, I think I'm gonna stay with my 20s and just look forward to replacing my tires with a wider version when the time comes. Thanx for the offers to trade, but I think I'll just try to be satisfied with what I've got. :)

Interesting observations, Ckon. I too have been going back and forth on whether or not to trade my 20's for 17's as I was unsure of the difference in ride.

I offroad quite a bit in the fall and winter since I hunt a lot, but didn't want to sacrifice HWY ride for the spring and summers.

In the end I've just decided to stick with my 20's and then maybe buy a set of 17" rims and tires to put on for hunting season.

My silver Limited has arrived and I need to trade the 20s for stock SR5 17s. I'm in Arkansas and am happy to drive a while to meet someone half way. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

Looking to trade my limited 20's ( about 500 miles on the rims and tires ) for the stock 17's or the Trail Edition rims preferably. Anyone live near Virginia and want to make the trade?

jkinder - thanks for the invite! Memphis would be the best place to do the swap. Do you know of any big tire stores with easy interstate access? Looks like there are a bunch of Mathis Tires stores in the city so I would suspect one of them would be our best choice. Any thoughts?

Hoosier - I'm ready to drive down and make the swap with you any day - the sooner the better for me.

General TPMS questions - does the spare have TPMS and is it read by the system on the dash if the spare goes flat? I know the Highlanders have this feature and thought that was nice. And also when swapping Toyota to Toyota, both with the same TPMS sensors, will they still need to be reprogrammed by the tire store or dealer after the swap?

OK - looks like I'm tire-swap hunting again. BradJ I'm happy to meet you in Dallas for a swap, or I could also meet Scotty in Kansas City, or could meet one of you guys from Chicago in St. Louis. I've got new Limited tires to trade for SR5 17s...

Thanks!

I'm still waiting to get mine in. My dealer is having a hard time finding another to trade with to get the options and color that I want. GST is supposed to get another round in early next week so I may have a better idea then.

After I get it in I'll let you know if and when I can make it up to Dallas. Thanks

Does anyone know of an online source for OEM Toyota wheels? Price through a Toyota dealer is very high and I want to see what other options are available. I'm still looking to trade my Limited 20's with stock SR5 17's if anyone wants to trade this week, but if not I may have to start from scratch. Thanks!

Don't count me out. As soon as I get mine in I'll let you know.

new to the site here.....

I'm thinking of purchasing the SR5 once I see what Toyota is going to release in the beginning of march.... (limited is a bit outside of my price range)

I read something up top about switching or re-calibrating the air pressure censors if I switched from the 17s to the 20s.....Can someone please help me? Exactly what has to happen and how much does that run?

Personally, I love the limited wheels and would be willing to trade someone.

Thanks in advance,

Charles in Mississippi
