2000 4runner Tall with a Skinny Stance

Hey Guys,

So I lifted my 2000 4Runner 3inch suspension lift. Its got the stock alloy wheels.

Ill have to post pics and show you all, but the damn thing looks so top heavy now that I'm scared to even take it places of road that I've been before because I feel like I'm gonna roll it!

The stance is all wrong. There is no way Im trusting bolt on wheel spacers and it looks like its too much of a correction to make with just the shim type (which I also don't like).

Id love to hear all of your input on rim off set options. I would like to just buy some cheap steel rims for it. Granted the rim offset is correct to make its stance not so top heavy.

Let me know whatcha think and show some pics of what you guys did to your runners,

Thanks guys!

You'll trust "cheap steel rims" and non-oem aftermarket lifts, but you won't trust a proven wheel spacer like Spidertrax?

Well, I've got some high negative offset alloy rims for sale if you're interested. Rims for Sale

another spacer thread...

Here's the thing. Your vehicle rides like shit, spend money on the suspension. Its really not very complicated. I hated the roll when I bought mine, new springs and addico bars. Since removed the bars but at the time it was a solution.

What size tires did you have on those absalom? 285/75/16 aka 33's? Hard to tell in the CL add...

A bolt on wheel adapter is pretty much the same thing as bolting a wheel on in the first place - a chunk of aluminum bolted on with 6 bolts. If you don't trust a chunk of aluminum holding on the tires, then you shouldn't trust aluminum wheels either.

Granted, it has to be good metal, proper alloys, proper machining, proper lugs, etc, which is why you might want to be a bit suspicious of some of the really cheap Chinese spacers on eBay, but well made ones should be every bit as strong as the wheels themselves are.

I didn't know Spidertrax spacers where so popular. Thank you for the insight. How big of a spacer do most of you all run?

also does anyone run a 17inch rim around here? According to the tire guy I was talking to 17inch rim in the industry standard now and I would have a lot more tire option if I where to move up to a 17inch rim.

I would say 16" are more popular around here.

You'll have to weigh the price difference. I'd say there is little difference otherwise, maybe a little aesthetics.

3" isn't much. give it some time, you will get used to it.

i felt the same way when i did 5" springs and 36" tires, after running on 33's, and a 3" BL for many years.

but as they said above, some quality spacers will be just fine.

I run 17" wheels (rims are one piece of a two or three piece wheel BTW) for the fact that they do have a larger tire selection. Mine are the eight hole FJ wheels.

No kidding, my 99 is on the tall springs and is probably a good 7" higher than a stock 2000.

I still take freeway offramps with no fear...

I ran 17's on my 2000, but I'll definitely be going 16's on this rig. Better on/off road comfort, better grip off road, cheaper tires, and in my experience more options.

Umm. Im fine with 4.5" up front and 5.5" rear. Its not too top heavy at all. Take your lift off if your that worried.

Does anyone know a good place to get spidertrax spacers for a 2000? went to there website and they are all sold out

I'm running a 1.25" set of Spidertrax and it changes the stance so much! Its awesome. I am installing a set of FN wheels today that will sit 1" wider than normal, so will probably change out the spacers to a set of .25" to keep them where they are at. I installed my spacers with the red locktite and no loosening at all in a year of some really rough abuse so very happy with them.
