2000 Limited, Auto, 4wd w/elocker - New To Me

I have been reading this site for a short time now trying to figure out what 3rd gen 4runner to look for. I have been watching CL like a hawk for a few months and these trucks in decent shape, 4wd, w-elocker are very hard to come by that is for sure. So I decided to pull the trigger on one, it is a 2000 Limited, Auto, towing package, leather, sunroof, 4wd with elocker, 190k miles....the interior is very clean(1 owner-female owned, never off road), the exterior has quite a few bruises on the bumper, but other than that the body is great. There is some sparse/surface rust underneath, but very little and nothing to worry about....it lived for 14 of the 15 years in the south. It drives great, shifts perfect and has always had regular maintenance done.....So, I paid $4,000 for the truck, from what I have read here I'm pretty sure that is a decent price. The truck is for my son, we are going to put a 2-3" lift on it and some slightly larger tires, any suggestions on a lift? I will post some pictures of the truck in a few days. This truck is nice, I might find one for me now..lol

That's a great deal on a 4Runner, I wish I had been that lucky! As far as lifts go, here's a thread that covers just about everything you need to know.

I personally have Bilstein 5100 shocks with stock front coils and OME 906 rear springs. Overall, it lifted my '99 about 2 inches and rides fantastic.

Sit down and research. That link posted is a great start. Also, people's build threads. Some things you have to answer first. Where do you live? What are you building it for (Beach, Mall Crawling, Mountain roads, Exploring, Mudding, Rock Crawling)? What is your final goals and what extras are you putting on it? For me, I had to change out my rear lift in about a year and a half because I upgraded to my current bumper.

I know, I know, pics are needed.....I will get some better ones, but for now here it is. Our 1st 4Runner, but I am a long time Toyota guy......I've owned a 1979 4wd reg cab p/u, 1995 T-100 extra cab 4wd, 1992 Landcruiser, 2006 Tacoma Dual Cab 4wd, and now 2000 4Runner....Whew, I have loved all of the previous ones. This one has a button on the 4wd shifter for AWD? as well as the rear elocker, I will read the owners manual on how it all operates, but, if someone wants to explain the combinations allowed that would be cool.....does the front diff operate in open only, or is there some sort of brake assist to slow the spinning front wheel while the locker is engaged in the rear? Anyway, cool truck and happy to get it.

I got lucky....found a good deal, close to home, and it has the elocker. I've only seen 1 other around here with an elocker and it sold in minutes....lol

I bet! Enjoy it, especially at that price! Now you can dump your savings into it. It's an addiction. Your wallet won't be happy. But you can't beat the looks. What part of GA are you?

North Georgia Mountains....1+ hour North of Atlanta. I see you are from Central Florida, I grew up in South Florida, graduated from FSU.

Yeah, I just want to put a good lift and some 33" tires on it, don't think I will get too crazy as my son will be thrilled with it stock. We will use it for hunting and trail riding so the lift and tires will be helpful.

Gorgeous up there. I love traveling through, I spend a week in a cabin in North Carolina this winter. Such a difference environment, just 8 hours away.

Absolutely. Theres a ton of information on here regarding everything lol. m just coming back to it. Check out toytecs website, theres a ton of opinions on lifts, but the Old Man Emu and Toytec lifts are very popular and well reviewed. Im running the OME personally, and have no complaints, albeit a little stiff. However that has to be expected with any lift and bigger tires.
