2001 Rear Diffy - WTF?

Changing the gear oil in rear differential for the first time since I've owned it. I've put on 2k of the 205,000 miles. Have already poured 3qts of 75W-90 in and still not flowing from the fill hole...
If my research is right, it should hold 2.5qts.

Any idea what's going on?

I think it's actually 2.8 or 2.9 quarts or something. When I did mine I put in a little over 3 quarts. Stick your finger in the fill hole and see if you can tell how close you are. I wonder if some of the parts get worn down over time and thus you can fit more fluid in.

It's flat on the ground, in the garage with the spare tire removed. I'm a tall, skinny guy, so I can get all the way to the middle of the vehicle without lifting it.

I did stick my pinky in and I'm 99% certain the oil is right up to the bottom of the fill hole, so I'm calling it a day and reinstalling the fill plug (and new crush washer).

It has 3 full quart bottle, minus whatever small amount I couldn't get to squeeze out at that angle...

Thanks for the replies!
