2002 4Runner Warm Idle Trouble

Today, after noticing some corrosion on the battery terminals on my wife’s 2002 4Runner, I removed the battery, cleaned under box and all terminals and replaced the battery.
I also noticed someone had broken a latch on the air cleaner housing and the housing was not completely closed. I repaired the latch and closed the housing.
I did a general wipe down of the engine compartment to finish up.
The next time my wife drove shortly after, problems started with engine idle.
When first cranked cold there is no issue. After driving a mile or so, the engine will not longer idle, indicating to me it is a warm idle problem. It will start fine but will not stay running unless you keep your foot on the gas.
The Check Engine light is not on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will start troubleshooting tomorrow.

I don't know man... If it was me I would unplug the battery and reset the computer and see if that fixes it, as that sounds like it's the only thing that should of really changed. Maybe it reset itself incorrectly or something... Good luck.

You need to check out what codes you're getting, could be a variety of things.

Look for a possible vacuum leak (loose or cracked hose) or a loose ground.

When it shuts off hot, turn off ignition and restart it. It has some adaptive parameters that got dumped having the battery disconnected for a while. When the adaptive memory gets lost it reverts to preset parameters. Which are usually ok for a fresh engine.

It should get better as time goes on. A friends truck will stall for two weeks after his battery is disconnected.

Is your throttle body and idle air control clean? Its worth cleaning it.
