Need some help/suggestions on a new problem with my 2002 limited 4wd 4runner, 177,000 miles, second owner, runs great.
had a CEl code#P0440 come up about 1 month ago and I attributed it to my overfilling the gas tank frequently. Researched and found 2 likely problem areas: charcoal canister and or overfill check valve. Purchased both and started with the canister because easier to get at. CEL off at completion of canister replacement and hasn't come back on with 2 fill ups and approx. 400 miles. Did not replace the check valve but I have one waiting.
Runner seems to run just fine but when I fill it with gas its really hard to start, it starts but not like before but only after gas fill, afterwards no problem starting.
Even did it with a 1/4 fill to see.
Likely culprit? Where should I start to eliminate problem? Never did this before and the new canister is a Toyota OEM canister.
